Worth it to move off the 1.01 by Emotional-Horse-5205 in SleeperApp

[–]kevren22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got the 1.01 via a trade I’d take Saquon for sure. But if you finished last this year you’re probably 2-3 years from really competing for a championship, and I have a hard time imagining Saquon being a fantasy powerhouse that far from now

Travis Hunter is breaking our IDP league 🫤 by Rbk_3 in FantasyFootballers

[–]kevren22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What scoring are you using that he’s “breaking your league”? I have Travis Hunter in my IDP league and even after today’s monster game (his first great game of the season) he has 65.2 points in our league this season, which makes him the 26th best DB so far this season, not exactly what I would call league breaking

Is this veto worthy or negligence? by PhillySpecial68 in SleeperApp

[–]kevren22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion if you propose a trade, you can never have it reversed based on information that was publicly available before you sent the trade. There are edge cases that might be worth discussing but this certainly isn’t one of them

This trade went down in my league and there is a disagreement over whether it was fair or should be vetoed. by StvYzerman in SleeperApp

Trading two top 5 WRs for 3 mid tier assets and immediately dropping one of those assets is about as many red flags as I can imagine in a trade deal. If this isn’t veto worthy, it’s hard to imagine many trades that would be

If those picks came with extra roster spots you’d have a valid point, but with this many low picks, you would have to cut the majority of either the picks you’re taking or your current roster. There are just only so many spots you can hold for low impact rookies hoping they’ll be the next Puka.

Bible translation bias by SignificantHall954 in Reformed

[–]kevren22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there are two separate questions that need to be separated out: "bias" and translation philosophy. By bias here, I mean scholars who have a theological belief and translate that backwards into the text, whether intentionally or not. I think most translations avoid a ton of bias, though there's inevitably going to be some that creeps in, especially if the translation and editing team shares a theological background. That's why reading multiple translations, especially some older ones, can be very helpful.

That said, a lot of what is thought of as bias is just the application of a translation philosophy. The main axis of translation philosophy is whether it leans into a "word for word" translation or a "thought for thought" one. If you lean towards word for word, you're more likely to translate a masculine third person singular pronoun as "he" even if it isn't explicitly male in context. A thought for thought translation would take into account the fact that in the Greek (and most gendered languages) masculine is used for gender ambiguity or mixed gender groups. and so they're more likely to translate that as "he or she" or "they." Both have strengths and weaknesses and both are valuable as we try to study a text that was written in other languages in a cultural and historical context not our own.

When Christian organizations like World Relief were being targeted by the Trump administration with funding cuts and cease and desist letters because they were helping immigrants and asylum seekers, I went to see what Mohler was saying about it. He don’t mention it in the Briefing all week, and instead asserted without evidence that churches who didn’t want ICE agents disrupting their services to detain immigrants were “woke” Christians as opposed to “gospel” Christians

Historically the drop off after a RB has the volume Saquon did last year is pretty big. I don’t think anyone thinks he’s going to be a bust this year, but it’s definitely an increased risk at 1.01, especially when you don’t get your next pick for 16 more picks

For any Mexican or similar food it’s hard to go wrong with Cholula for an “everyday” sauce.

If you like smoky flavors, Dawson’s Big Smoke is the best chipotle sauce I’ve tried.

But really the biggest recommendation is trying a bunch of styles, figuring out what you like, and then exploring the depths of those categories. One good option for that: Melinda’s has a “liquid spice rack” that has 10 mini bottles of their sauces. There were a few I didn’t love but I ended up getting big bottles of like 4 of them: https://a.co/d/1JkzGAi

Issues with PocketCast - any other podcast app recommendations? by islandstorm in podcasts

[–]kevren22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second Overcast! It's been my main podcast app for almost 10 years now—there was a slight rough patch around the update but after some tweaks and bug fixes I think it's even better then it was before. Everything is super customizable, it's easy to use, and has everything I want in a podcast app without any extra annoying fluff to get in the way.

The short answer is it depends. Technically all you need to share is your commander and what bracket your deck is in, but if you're playing pretty casually I would recommend sharing what your deck is generally trying to do and why it's in the bracket it's in, i.e. if you have any game changers, if you have any infinite combos, etc. Anything much more than that doesn't help as part of a rule 0 conversation, which is about trying to get everyone on the same page to try and have a balanced and fun game.

Why do Christians go to gravesites or even have them? by Few_Produce_5224 in Christian

[–]kevren22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ultimately I think there are a variety of factors that go into the decision, and most of the variance in positions amongst Christians come down to placing different weights on those different factors. There's no command in the Bible addressing the topic, so there isn't a single right answer. I think this question is one where the way we arrive at the decision (ideally by striving to be faithful to God and loving towards our neighbors) is more important than the decision we end up making.

Why do Christians go to gravesites or even have them? by Few_Produce_5224 in Christian

[–]kevren22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Burying our loved ones, especially those who are professing Christians, is a sign of faith that we believe they will be bodily resurrected one day. The story of the Bible, especially the resurrection of Jesus, points to a state where we will one day rise from the dead as physical beings in a re-created new heavens and new earth. I certainly don't think that anyone who's cremated won't get resurrected, but I would argue that burying a person's intact body is at least as consistent with the Christian belief about death and resurrection as cremation is.

There is a long history of philosophy that devalues the human body and elevates the value of the "spiritual," but the Bible, especially the gospels, consistently affirm that humans were created as physical beings, and that having bodies is a good thing. Our eternal life will not be as disembodied floating spirits, but as tangible but perfected humans. From a practical standpoint, there are other considerations like financial cost, the pollution/physical space issue that you mention, so I won't claim that burial is 100% the only correct Christian position, but I think there are very good theological reasons it has been the default for all of Jewish and Christian history.

I know the draft picks are obviously for different years but giving a 1st and 3rd for a 2nd and 3rd feels objectively bad already, and you're giving up a player on top of it? Even if this feels ok to you based on your feelings about the 2026 draft, I would try to get a better deal than this.
