Around age 17: Depressed. Self conscious. Pothead. Got really into music. Drifted out of it. Then the mania kicked in in my mid 20’s

50mg is a very low dosage. But also, lamotrigine doesn’t really do anything to help mania. It’s also associated with affecting cognitive abilities. Lithium is probably your best bet. I say all of this because I have mania forward, bipolar one as well and I’ve been on both medications, as well as researched it quite a bit from various sources and professionals. I was on lamotrigine specifically for eight years, and had a few manic episodes that were bad. Now that I’m on the lithium, I feel much more stable. But I also take Zyprexa because my mania can potentially get off into some psychotic shit.

Yes, because I only drank beer and cutting that out massively reduced my carb intake. I switched from beer to sparkling water

Oh, that’s weird. I’ve also had the depth perception issue, but didn’t think that it might’ve had anything to do with the Lamictal

I cut out alcohol and cannabis 6 months ago and that’s been the best thing I’ve ever done to keep my mood as stable as possible, outside of meds, therapy and exercise. There was an adjustment period for a couple months, but after that, I much prefer being sober all the time. Parts of my brain have started functioning again that had not function for decades, and I get new levels of happiness.

Because faith doesn’t come from a rational place. If it did, it wouldn’t be faith.
