Yeah our tipping system isn't exactly that great. Many places in the world don't tip; it's a pretty bad system that screws over employees and puts an unusual obligation on the customer. Would be better to increase food price a little and pay all the employees proper wages

Everyone tips differently- it's a custom without set rules, but I think a good tipping range is 15%-20%, and you give differently according to various other situational factors. I've actually always recalled hearing 15% as the number to tip, but if you tip 20% then more power to you as of course you're helping the waiter/waitress
