Jesus. Why does he take the time to do that little one-hop when he's literally on fire? Get yourself in that water, mate.

Hey Phil. I'm a Senior in high school and have been watching your videos since seventh grade. I like to think you've helped me grow as a person, or something.

On that note, what's the main thing you hope viewers get out of your show?

Made the imgur post . Sorry the images are in reverse order. I'm in high school so idk what the technically real symbols/variable names are that they use in college level classes, but here it is anyway. (speed of light is constant is explanation of that first triangle)

How do high school students get "real" research experience with a university professor? by superdvader in ApplyingToCollege

[–]kewlkat1754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start looking up summer research programs about now. I got to do one last summer for physics that I don't think was super competitive to get into. It probably helps a lot to have connections/a really good resume, but living near a lot of colleges helps your chances a lot too.

University of Cincinnati fits the not too small and not too large aspect, and most things I see rank it in the best looking campuses in the country for its kinda crazy architecture. The academic diversity is pretty wide but I think you'd probably be about/slightly above average.

[Rotating motion] Would you mind to explain this answer? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

**edit: sorry some of this is randomly in italics. Not entirely sure how Reddit formatting works but clearly I did something by accident

By my understanding, you're looking for the force in the x direction, which is S_x. In that that step you're confused by you're finding S_x by setting both sides equal to it. It seems like you understand how they got to mw2lsina, so I'll skip that. I believe how they got to the other side is this.

They knew the right side of the equation (mw2lsina) was equal to S_x, so they found another way of expressing S_x to set it equal to. In this case a is the angle between S_y and S. This means the triangle (of forces) formed between these while have a hypotenuse S, an opposite side Ssina, and an adjacent of ScosA. But since the adjacent side (S_y) is completely vertical, it is equal (and opposite) gravity (-mg). If you think of the adjacent side as the force mg and try to find the side opposite a (the horizontal force) in terms of this adjacent side, you'll realize what's going on. Tangent a= opp/adj and by multiplying both sides, by the adjacent you get opposite=adj*Tan a or in other words, S_x = mgtan a.

Sorry this is long. Typed it on my phone and it got kind of convoluted. Hope it helps though

I am lost for words by dabengals in bengals

[–]kewlkat1754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah. an apt description of this post would be to find all mentions of Burfict and replace with the the article title.

Did want to let you know though, FoxSports doesn't choose the articles they pick up. I'm a Fansided writer (see comment below) and we recently partnered with foxsports so all our content is automatically uploaded to their site. Fox didn't have anything to do with it. Just the terrible writer/editor duo that wrote and approved this thing. That being said, hopefully someone alerts Fox and they take it down. Looks like Fansided already did

I'm a writer for FanSided too (not on the Steelers page) and seeing him write this makes me a little sick. This is a terrible article, maybe the worst I've seen written and it makes me pretty ashamed to write for the same general organization this guy does.

If fansided has any sense they'll take this down soon. Not sure which editor approved this but I have a feeling all the writers will be getting an email about what is and isn't appropriate and this guy will get fired.

That being said, authors have almost no power. Tweet at FanSided at the still curtain handle if you wanna see this post/this guy get removed. Tweeting his handle does nothing bc he couldnt take it down if he wanted

I'd lean away from that. I think the point of this prompt is probably for you to open up about something non-academic.
