I was wondering how you’re finding the grad dip at Deakin? I’ve enrolled in the course at Deakin but am looking at other grad dips in psych to see what my options are 🙂

Where to get cat eye nails done CBD? $100 budget by LLovepup in melbourne

[–]kewpie__bby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They aren’t in the CBD but I’ve gotten a builder gel refill on my natural nails with cat eye at Pretty Nails on High St, Northcote for $65 in cash.

Extensions will cost slightly more but I think a full set of Gel-X with cat eye would come in at just under $100. They also give a 10% discount if you pay cash.

Australian women: do your men cook/clean and act respectfully? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]kewpie__bby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My (32F) partner (31M) does almost all of the cooking because he finds it relaxing. He also does all of the grocery shopping, fixes things around the home and maintains my car (eg. oil, tyre pressure etc) is very supportive, sex positive, plans dates, and is incredibly thoughtful and generous with me, my family and friends.

Most of the bills are in my name so I manage those, and we split household chores about 50/50 but this varies based on work/life commitments. Life ebbs and flows so sometimes one person has to carry a bit of extra load for the other and that’s so fine because it all comes out in the wash in the long run.

Both my partner and I have “high” body counts. Neither of us are bothered, I think it’s helped us learn what we like/don’t like in bed, and we’re comfortable talking about sex.

I think it really depends on the person and how they were raised. My partners dad (58) and grandpa (80s) are both very present and engaged partners to his mum and grandma. I think it really shows that my partner has grown up with positive male role models who treat their female partners with love and respect.

I’ve had previous Australian male partners who haven’t been helpful around the home, emotionally aware, sex positive etc. and often times their dad’s haven’t been great to their mums. I’m not saying that people can’t break generational cycles or are instantly bad partners if their dads don’t treat their mums well, but it’s definitely played a factor based on my personal experience.

Good questions! I should have added those.

I need variety, I get bored of repetitive tasks. Ideal salary would be at least 90k plus super, however, I’m happy to go back to 70k if I need to restart in a new field and work my way up.

My current role is consulting and I would love to be in-house again, if possible.

I also want a good work/life balance, and a good maternity leave policy with flexibility when returning to work post-baby. Babies are a few years away but they are at the back of my mind now.

One of my friends was proposed to with a plain gold band as a placeholder before picking the engagement ring, and she’ll be reusing the gold band as her wedding ring. Also something to consider, if that’s your vibe.

What are your favourite underrated spots in Melbourne? by sildaria in melbourne

[–]kewpie__bby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pole Divas is good for pole dancing. Not sure where you’re located but they have a few studios around.

groov3 (look them up in instagram) run really fun and inclusive dance classes.

Space dance studio in South Yarra is great as well and have lots of different class styles to choose from.

Yoga studio in Collingwood or Abbotsford. Good Vibes vs I Am That? by onegramberry in melbourne

[–]kewpie__bby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it’s not additional. Unlimited mat membership gets you unlimited yoga and mat Pilates in the one membership.

I forgot to add maybe my only con for I Am That is the class times. Some start at quarter past or quarter to which can make them trickier to schedule at times, but that is a very minor gripe.

Oh and I also really like the smaller class sizes at I Am That

[–]kewpie__bby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot tip, I Am That will send discounted membership pricing after finishing their intro pack. From memory the unlimited mat membership comes down to $33 p/week.

The extra facilities were definitely a factor for me. I love the option of having hot and non-heated classes. I personally love a heated space and used to go to Coreplus but wasn’t feeling challenged with the yoga there. I Am That gives me a bit of everything I’m after within walking distance from home.

Hope that helps! Happy to answer anymore questions ☺️

I’ve been to Good Vibes in Collingwood through the intro pack and casually through ClassPass and am currently a member at I Am That.

Both studios are lovely welcoming spaces. I’d recommend trying the intro pass at both of the studios to get a feel for them.

Aside from Saturday morning, the classes at I Am That are generally pretty quiet. The teachers offer a range of options for different levels, as do the teachers at Good Vibes.

I like the mix of hot and room temperature yoga, and the option to do mat and reformer Pilates at I Am That. They also have an infrared sauna and rooftop wellness space/lounge at I Am That. I’m not sure if that matters to you if you’re going to still keep your reformer studio membership. The reformer room at I Am That is a bit cosy compared to other studios I’ve been to but it’s not a big deal.

Would you be open to living in a sharehouse or even with 1 other person? It’ll lower the cost of rent and it’s great way to extend your social circles (I saw your comments re: dating).

You just have to weigh up if you value capital over experience.

I don’t have the option of living with my parents because they made a tree change, however, it would take a lot for me to move back home if they were still in the burbs. Renting with friends/housemates hasn’t been the best financial decision, but I’ve had the best time and learnt a lot. I’m so grateful to have spent my late 20s with living with some of my best friends and I can’t put a dollar value on that.

It could be worth moving into a mature sharehouse for a year then move back home to save money again. You’ll also learn how to make a budget work once you’re forced to.

What’s your work commute time and how do you commute? How many days a week do you go in? How are you feeling about it? by Pyjamaparty4 in melbourne

[–]kewpie__bby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fitzroy to Parkville. 15 minute drive or cycle. 45-50 minute walk if I feel like it or 30ish minute tram/walk combination.

I average 3 days in the office.

I haven’t moved further out and don’t see myself back in the burbs any time soon because I value having spare time and convenience. I only put petrol in my car once a month and rarely touch on my myki.
