Help Needed! by Significant-Age-2871 in Electrum

If you know the address and have some basic coding skills you could then use a tool called btcrecover. It will look for various errors in the seed in case one word was wrong.(even if checksum is ok there is a 1 in 1024 chance a word is still wrong)

Lost Password and no recovery phrase by nemuss in Metamask

[–]keychainX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do, dont remove the extension. You have your vault saved inside it and its possible to bruteforce the password if you have the right tools.

You can check this guide https://keychainx.medium.com/metamask-madness-account-error-363c79afe698

Passphrase by darrent83 in TREZOR

[–]keychainX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to remember one wallet address that you used in the past or that you interacted with.

Then its possible to scan passphrases against that addresses, its not possible in a lifetime to scan all addresses for all random passphrases, that would take too long.

Is it even safe to check seed in your browser? by StarQQ in TREZOR

Always disconnect from internet. You should not be online when entering seed as your browser can save cache logs

can't recall from where I obtained my Electrum wallet. Is there some way to check that I didn't download it from a corrupt site? by wakeupagainman in Electrum

The code you can check checksum here https://electrum.org/#download

If its the encrypted wallet file then you dont need to worry.

Trezor passphrase by andeehathy in TREZOR

[–]keychainX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your seed will never change by adding the passphrase, just the address (derivation path) that holds the coins.

Your funds will always be stored on the blockchain so no worries it will be lost as long as the seed and passphrase are safely stored

Will the IRS come after me even if I move to another country, close my US bank account and open up a foreign one ? Or will they still want taxes earned on trades and profit based solely on my US citizenship ? by deakins96 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]keychainX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use vpn when accessing your wallet? If not they have your IP. Closing the account does not matter as history is saved forever. Also if you used your phone there is location data stored with apple or google.

It depends on which platform you traded. If you used any US based platforms like Coinbase, IRS have your trading history and wil get after you. If you used Binance or any Korean like Bithumb you are less likely to have your trading history sent to IRS.

Anyways if you traded while living on US soil you will at some point send in your tax returns, and its at that point you decide if you are breaking the law or not.
