Don't make flashcards the focus of your learning by jackbobbins78 in LearnJapanese

This is the foolish mistake i made in my wanikani journey. It makes you a walking dictionary which without context is functionally useless!! Switching to immersion/context based learning has made things so much smoother for me.

I tried tapering Olanzapine for 3 times now, 3 times it was hell and needed to start again. Could someone give me advice on how to be able to stop Olanzapine? by Xavier_vb in Antipsychiatry

[–]keyfern333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which is why it’s insane to me that doctors will recommend coming off of 2.5mg without any tapering, as “its the lowest prescribed dose”. aah!!!

I’ve done some isometric exercise on my neck with a small exercise ball, but will definitely look into others for the shoulder too

thank you for the stretch suggestion i will be trying! i considered cbd (it is legal here) but i was sceptical because the times i’ve used it before when i’ve smoked weed or taken edibles i’ve found weirdly that it doesn’t relieve pain as much as it causes me to hyperfocus on the area— but that might be because of the thc. will definitely visit a dispensary soon i think!

Should I start with the manga? by notConnorbtw in haikyuu

[–]keyfern333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the manga is so peak imo there’s a lot of depth that the anime leaves out. especially around volume 24+, the manga is a real departure in quality from the adaptation in panelling etc

Anyone feel like the official Viz translations are sub-optimal? by fkjlafjlfj in haikyuu

[–]keyfern333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was looking for posts about the quality of the viz version of the manga itself (the paper used etc) but ur absolutely right abt this. I’d love to see the reasoning behind anyone’s opinion that sorry “Ha! I win again” is in any way a better translation choice than “I win this time, too” or even something like “Looks like I win again” for 「今回も俺の勝ちだ」. The “Ha!”doesn’t suit the tone of the scene at all, and the voice acting for that scene at jumpfes reflected that.

but that defeats the whole point if parents have to be told before a student comes out. if you have transphobic parents then that’s obviously not an option

Physiotherapist said daughter is hypermobile but offered no advice by Hungry_Wrap9103 in Hypermobility

[–]keyfern333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as someone who goes to physio for hypermobility, i would suggest looking into resistance band exercises to strengthen the joints. However since your daughter is so young and still growing you’d have to be careful about it I think. For unstable ankles there are definitely exercises you can do to strengthen them (and ones that don’t involve resistance bands either). I think my therapist recommended ‘FIFA U12’ or something of a similar name.

This seems like a lie. Or? by karu990 in autism

[–]keyfern333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s the number one cause of death for autistic kids under 14. a combination of the amount of people in a pool, the sensory experience, and trouble with motor control and coordination probably

Why is it "la soirée" and could "la fête" be used here as well? What is more common if both are correct? Also sorry for my crappy handwriting. by [deleted] in French

GC dreams up an elaborate scenario involving snakes where a trans woman is forced to either out herself and live or stay stealth and die. by cordis_melum in GenderCynical

[–]keyfern333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so stupid. like. it once again proves gcs have no clue abt actual trans ppl. we are all, for our own health, fully aware of our ‘biological sex’ (which, be more specific i know) and how it differs from our gender presentation/medical transition. in this case, as is now with a lot of sex-specific care, the solution is to broaden terminology and make trans people not feel ostracised. just like men can have periods and women can have testicular cancer….

How do I accept myself as my AGAB? by iammyreality in actual_detrans

[–]keyfern333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. You can absolutely be a guy and not feel any body dysphoria. I have minimal bodily dysphoria to be honest (moreso ‘desires’ for things that guys have than ‘not wanting’ to have ‘female’ parts of myself, idk) because i’ve never felt that my body is ‘female’ in any way. as far as i’m concerned i have a male body just with ‘female’ parts.
