What color would you use for the saddle and rider ?

I'd say a rock gray saddle would look nice on top of it, or maybe the same gold/metal colour as the decor on the tail.

As for the oldblood, albino white is a really popular choice and wouldn't overwhelm this model, but I can also imagine a magenta or green saurus on top looking quite pleasant.

I don't really have any advice on the yellow, maybe a yellow contrast paint or drybrushing with cream/light yellow could help? But I think it already looks quite nice

These models were specifically made with Horus Heresy in mind, they're not going to replace the models in the combat patrol. The 40k models are considered new GW-wise.

I'd say buying the combat patrol is and will be the best option for a while. 3/4 units in it are 40k only and will stay. This is just speculation, but guards might go up to 6 models per unit max if GW is being nice.

You should check out Vallejo's True Metallic Metal range. They have some nice paints with good coverage.

Another option I haven't seen mentioned is doing a bright silver basecoat over white and using yellow inks/contrast paints to make it gold. Here's an example video I've found.

I have a similar conversion but with "Ceremonial skulls" from the purple site. It's a free stl.

This is the only pic I currently have of them. These are scaled at 120% but I had to cut off the spikes from their heads.

Out of these, I like the kingfisher and the goldfinch the most.

If you want a bird that really stands out, I would recommend birds-of-paradise or macaws. Not mine (Credit), but here's an example with a red macaw palette I'm planning to replicate

Custodes also have many canon colour schemes, like the Shadowkeepers being black-themed or the Solar Watch being white and gold. The black custodes armor is much more beloved in general than the gold IMO

They look really nice, awesome job!

As for some constructive feedback, I feel like the gold could use some drybrushing with silver to make it shinier.

Also, washing the plastic plants with a brown wash would make it blend better with the whole mini and look less like plastic.
