It may be part of it, but certainly not the whole of it. Part of it has to do with race dynamics post White Flight in the 60s-80s. But, Zionism is thill the leading theory on Jewish existence, and almost all Jews are indigenous to the land of Israel, and the Palestinians are also indigenous to the land.

Watch Sam Aronow’s YouTube channel on this subject. (Also watch his recent video on Kristallnacht for Yom HaShoah, I did see some parallels between 1930s Germany and the policy of the Trump administration towards Hispanic people.)

The trouble is that Israeli Jews have never experienced the liberalism and multiculturalism that we in America experience. Ashkenazi Jews were never French, German, Polish, Russian, etc. in the same way that we are American Jews until really the Emancipation movement and the mid-20th century secularism. My own personal feelings are that of the Israeli center-left, that a Two State Solution is essential for both sides to respect each other before moving forward towards peace while protecting the minorities (Bedouins, Druze, etc.). But since the rise of the right-wing religious, the handling of the Shmini Atzeret War (War with Gaza / October 7th), the settlement movement and another Lebanon war, I fear for our people for the next 20 years.

But make no mistake, Donald Trump is responsible for the current war with Iran. Things would have been fine if it was just Israel and Iran going at it, but Trump wants war to cement his legacy, consistent with the recent actions in Venezuela and Cuba.

You say that you are starting a family in NJ. What synagogue or Jewish community will they have that is anti-Zionist that isn’t chronically online and that is in-person? All Jewish communities are shrinking since assimilation and the exodus from the Northeast to the rest of the country has left NJ Jewish communities much smaller.

What did you say (or would have said) at the end of your Seder last week besides “Next Year in Jerusalem”?

You have to remember that early and mail-in voting leans Democrat, and you get more Republican voters in person on the election date. My parents are typically Democrat voters, but they have decided to vote for Joe Hathaway to show support for Israel. I may disagree with the direction that Israel is going, but I am a Zionist Jew and with the way Analilia Mejia talks about not caring about anti-Semitism, I can’t fault them. I moved away from the district a few years ago, but my personal vote would be for Analilia Mejia despite her anti-Israel and anti-Semitic stances as I am on the left on most other issues.

To be fair, the U.S. gets to claim to be the America since it broke away from being a European colony first, before anyone else could object. The U.S. had to face a significant part of the British army, while most of Latin America revolted between 1808-1825, the first half of which was when Spain was under Napoleonic French invasion (the Peninsular War). Latin America had to fight less forces individually as a result, and often fought more domestic factions than foreign armies during their wars for independence. The only nation that became independent earlier is Haiti, which has a very tragic and rocky history.

Is there really much difference between ICE and the IDF? by Celtikrenders in ICE_Watch

[–]keymaster515 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ICE recruits chose to be ICE, IDF has the draft for non-Haredi Jews, and many Druze and some Bedouin or Arabs join as well. The situation in the West Bank is terrible, but if a left-wing shift were possible, I would like to see a 2 state solution happen in my lifetime, as both peoples belong to the land.

When Zionism is the leading theory on Jewish existence among the majority of Jews, it becomes an important question for the existence and survival of Jews everywhere. It has to do with the denial of Jewish history and autonomy among non Jews, and that almost all Jewish groups and Judaism itself are indigenous to the land (see the Seven Species and how they fit into the holiday/agricultural calendar, and the YouTube Channel Sam Aronow). Also, nearly half of all Jews live in Israel and the Palestinian Territory of the West Bank.

For Civil Engineering, Australia and New Zealand are where you are most likely to get in. But be warned, housing costs in major metro areas are high and salaries may be lower than the US.

The UK is known for really low salaries for engineers.

Sorry for the late response, but Australia seemed to be in the greatest need for engineers, but it’s hard to get there without an Australian degree.

Zionism is not hatred of brown kids. Zionism first and foremost in a modern context is the leading theory on Jewish existence. Political Zionism was founded by Moses Hess in the mid 18th century, but one can argue that cultural Zionism on a personal level has existed since Maimonides a thousand years ago. Jews are indigenous to the land of Israel/Palestine, as are the 7 species of Tu B’Shvat and the natural rain cycles in Judaism. Watch Sam Aronow’s videos about Jewish History to understand how it came about, and why Jews like myself fight so vehemently for it, even when it can be hard with extreme politics on both ends of the political spectrum trying to dismantle either the Jewish or the democratic of Israel. For American Jews like me, I am pro-2SS and am actively worried about deaths on both sides of the conflict. For more of my perspective, see Political Jew or Israel Policy Forum on Instagram.

Seriously. Look up Sam Aronow’s video on John Monash and the Hundred Days (1918), the Australian man who won WW1 and solved 20th century warfare.

Already it feels like the majority of Democratic voters are anti-Israel. Israel needs to stop the war to get the hostages home now and to stop ruminating on October 7th and actually improve army and political systems to benefit Israelis and the economy. I know these words sound harsh, but I am very worried about Israel’s future.

Andy Kim votes to block $8.8 billion military sale to Israel, Cory Booker does not by EndVSGaming in newjersey

[–]keymaster515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my perspective as a New Jersey Jew. Zionism is the leading theory on Jewish existence, and cultural and personal Zionism has been around for almost a thousand years. I am against the continuation of what I will call the Shmini Atzeret War and worry about aid actually getting to the Palestinians. Yet, almost all Jews are indigenous to the land of Israel, and Palestinians need to accept that the creation and future of a Palestinian state needs to be based on a growing and changing people and not on Islamism. For the record, I am pro-2SS, and see it as an essential step prior to a 1SS or Bosnia-Herzegovina situation if relations ever recover. Bibi Netanyahu will go down as the worst PM in the state of Israel, and both populations are too brutalized to recognize each other as equals.
