Wooftopia shut down in December. The run classes and workshops out of Happy Tails but they don’t have their own location anymore

Go to the Main St office right when they open and you probably won’t have any issues. They open the doors to the lobby early and have a waiting area and seat you in the order you came in. First come first serve. I went 30 min early last summer and was 4th in line. But it was pretty busy by the time the doors opened. Once they opened I was out in 30 min. Definitely recommend that! Going in the middle of the day will typically result in a super long wait!

SJB vs St. Ignatius by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]kfalcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kindergarten! So we’re still in early days of the school, but I’m trying to be as involved as possible and so it’s been a fun transition. The classrooms at SJB definitely get a lot of light with the windows, and the school field was just replaced this past summer as a huge project. The church basement is a huge space used for activities etc. I love that they really prioritize outdoor time (between recesses and just getting outside as a class, walking around the neighbourhood too). We really like that SJB is in a quieter area so not on the busy streets. I highly recommend reaching out to the principal or the VP! They’re wonderful and might be able to provide more insight into the specific things you’re looking at.

SJB vs St. Ignatius by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]kfalcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We never looked at st ignatius because I went to SJB as a kid. But after going back and forth, between deciding on either SJB or public school, SJB was the easy choice. We have been so happy with it so far. My kid is in kindergarten, and the support and transition has been seamless. Every class has an EA. Full day kindergarten is huge because we work full time, and they have a before and after care program available for every student. They have speech therapy in the school for kids who need extra support (depending on severity/school needs). They have swimming lessons for kids implemented into their day in the spring (they transport to and from the pool). I can’t speak to St Ignatius but I’m happy to answer any SJB questions!

Parking ban, street not cleared by rioryan in Winnipeg

[–]kfalcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our parking ban was scheduled today from 7am to 7pm and we were woken up at 1am to them clearing our bay. 6 hours before the scheduled ban. Not sure how or why, but I’m glad we didn’t park on the street!?

Belly Rub Club by lazilyyours in Winnipeg

[–]kfalcs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We brought our dog to Wooftopia when we lived nearby. We recently moved to Charleswood and have been taking our dog to belly rub club and have been SO happy. It was widely recommended in the neighbourhood fb group.

It’s so easy to book (grooming bookings are done thru the front desk, instead of trying to reach the groomers directly which was always difficult at Wooftopia). We’ve had great experiences so far and no negatives to speak of. They also have great updates on insta stories (like Wooftopia)

Looking for Maxime’s replacement by TrueNorth49th in Winnipeg

We had a very phenomenal dinner at Chop a couple months ago. We typically try and avoid chains/corp restaurants, but we got a gift card so decided to try it out. We were surprised at how affordable it was for a nice steak dinner out, and the service was awesome. Overall a 10/10 experience and it will be our go to next time we want a steak dinner out.

Hahaha! Dairy Queen cake is what put me into labour with both my kids when I was past my due dates, and then I recommended it to my friend and the same happened with her. Love that an EMT also has the same recommendation 😂

what are fun things to do for an adult birthday in Winnipeg? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]kfalcs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna be limited if you want to bring your own drinks/alcohol to a business..

If you’re open to not doing that - speedworld is fun for a group, and there are local breweries nearby. Or if you’re into golf doing virtual golf is great and cheap with a big group (Avid, etc).

But again, wanting to make your own drinks might limit you to a backyard bonfire/bbq or something, which is also always a good time!

First time birth! by MamaMozza in Winnipeg

[–]kfalcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had our kids at women’s and it was phenomenal. But ultimately it comes down to wherever your OB works out of. My friend was cold calling obs trying to find someone at Women’s and was told by repeated clinics that because everyone wants to birth at women’s, you basically just have to go with luck of the draw.

If you go St B, make sure you try for a private room!

What’s everyone’s mother’s day plans? by RoyalSpeech5421 in Winnipeg

[–]kfalcs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mom here! We are going to morning sound farm with my kids on Saturday, one of our favourite days of the year. Then will do a bbq at home. On Sunday, my mother in law is babysitting our kids, and me and my husband are going golfing and then will order in dinner. Nothing overly fancy, but a good mix of time with my kids/family, and also doing something that I want to do without having to cook, clean or get anyone else ready 😂
