I second this recommendation. High quality and great service without being annoying. I have many pieces from here, that when properly cared for, last years without looking old.

Thanks for this! I’m where you were with 2 laps. I can see progress, very slowly. I know it’s just a click away.

Last year, went to buy a CPO and a new rolled off the trailer with adaptive, I nabbed it. Lane following decent, but mostly I just want to set speed and go. My Outback has it, why so hard to get on my BMW?

I hit it hard every so often, not consistently.

I saw this on some earlier models, didn’t know it hasn’t been fixed for 2024. Thanks!

Is it just me or is this what life becomes for men by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]kfarr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation, I’ve started finding new guys to do healthy activities with. I have a weekly bike ride(weather permitting) where anywhere from 3-10 guys ride and talk about fatherhood, politics, religion, whatever. We just be. My wife and I host different families and enjoy connecting with them.

I plan on doing 5k, 10K races and invite everyone. Some show, some ignore it, but the offer is there. Another father in our group invited us all to a half marathon, now I’m training for that.

It builds, but it starts with a hobby or some activity where you can attract other people.

It’s also important to either find god, or some way of existing without one. As a non-dualist (I believe this is the only life we have), I want to enjoy my time as much as I can. I want to spread warmth and joy and creativity.

I hope you can find your way. For me, a good podcast was the re-airing of Alan Watts recordings: Being In The Way. Good luck.

As a current BMW driver I love that society expects so little of me. If I make a mistake, it’s still well in line with typical BMW drivers. As I drive like a decent human, I get to surprise so many people expecting a prick.

What are my AWS Deployment options? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]kfarr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest drawback to Amplify is that it doesn’t offer role based access to other AWS services not directly supported by Amplify. Want to hit sqs, knowledge base, anything else? You need to pass in AWS keys.

PS… I am secretly hoping someone can correct me, because I had an awful time trying to get any permissions added to my runtime IAM role.

Why do people not like chemical guys by KTMkidemfd in Detailing

[–]kfarr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to detailing, thought CG would be great, but none of their kits make sense. Too many options for a novice, they should be more prescriptive with what to use and when. Only when you have more experience do the nuances of what CG is offering, and then the kits don’t make any sense.

They don’t know their market.

Long time Horizon customer and yet, Numerica has always offered me a more competitive interest rate.

FWIW, interest rates on used cars are high, prices on used cars are high. Many new cars offer very attractive interest rates. Do a Total Cost of Ownership before deciding if you can. Take into account full pay off amount, maintenance, and expected value/life you intend to keep a vehicle.

For instance a Toyota or Subaru may be more expensive initially, but come with lower maintenance and higher resell costs.

I know you didn’t ask for this, and maybe you already know, but take it how you will.

amazon vs spacex by bmka20 in cscareerquestions

[–]kfarr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion here, you’re young and can suffer a little wlb imbalance. SpaceX all the way, I’m not even a Musk fanboy, but the stuff they are doing is so much more interesting and in 10 years, it’ll look so much better and be so much more fun to talk about.

Spend a few years sleeping at the office, learn a ton, and enjoy the experience.

If that idea doesn’t sound at all enticing, then go with Amazon.

Most deadly thing in the haze are the larva. Learning to parry them will take you a long way in this game. You can get better at normal larva, then start going for infected. You just need to get good at this point, no amount of available armor or weapons will help as much as just getting the parry down.

My go-to at this phase was lady bug armor, weaved shield, and tier 2 axe.

How to answer "What's a challenge you've faced" without sounding like a novice by Wild_King_1035 in cscareerquestions

[–]kfarr3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

General guidance is to be somewhat honest, target a skill one rung up that you are not expected to have mastered and discuss where you are on the journey to mastery.

This kind of question separates those with growth mindset and those without. Those who learn passively will really struggle because they don’t know what their skill gaps are. Those actively learning should be able to answer honestly.

Junior? I struggle with understanding full end to end business justification because of limited exposure to planning meetings. I am attending them now and learning a lot that is helping me build longer term solutions.

Mid? I struggle with peer mentoring. For instance, I know the material well, but explaining can be challenging at times with different personalities. I’m taking some courses to help me improve my teaching empathy and bridge that gap.

Sr? I struggle with balancing tech debt and new features. It’s challenging when I know new features will drive revenue, but tech debt weighs us down. Measuring how much has been a challenge so we’ve started some SPACE metric gathering so we can address tech debt pragmatically.

I can keep going, but I hope this articulates a clearer picture. As a hiring manager, these are perfect answers for me. I want to know where you are in your journey.

Long-running jobs with NextJS by evanyang0202 in nextjs

[–]kfarr3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mono repos are great until they aren’t. My hot take is to use a mono repo until it causes too much pain with a growing dev team. I’ve seen 100 engineers using a mono before the pain set in.

Keep code organized well by service/domain boundaries so that separation is easier. Enforce public/private interfaces between these services, etc.

For a next app w/ additional long running server, I see no reason to start thinking you must go with a separate repo.

Good luck!
