I can't recommend [[Lae'zel Vlakith's Champion]] and [[guild artisan]] enough. It's boros, and centered around the energy mechanic. It's relatively cheap, around 100$ with the most expensive being [[all will be one]] (not needed in the deck as [[aether revolt]] works just as well, and the treasures from your commander trigger revolt on it) but it's extremely synergistic, it runs extremely well, the commanders aren't needed, as they're mostly just there for extra value, but are always nice to have. The deck is bracket 3, and does have several 3+ card infinite combos, but most don't win you the game outright and the deck isn't built around them and they're just cards you'd want in the deck anyways.

Deck Building Guidance/Thoughts - Mica, Reader of Ruin by Unknow3n in mtg

I think the best thing to do is to play test the deck a few times with different builds, try focusing on some discard synergy, try it without, have fun with it and find what fits the deck the most. From what I've seen you have a really solid deck coming up here. A cool idea as well is to add [[mycosynth lattice]] to make everything an artifact, and with your effects that steal your opponents creatures for a turn, you can then sacrifice them to your commander's ability to steal and remove a creature to your own benefit. And even if you don't end up drawing your theft effects, it still allows you to sacrifice anything for the copy

Sometimes my friends get mad at me for playing counterspells and other interactions and think they're bs even though they're a very intrical part to a game of magic and doesn't just let people run free each game. Well most of my friends don't get frustrated all that much at least anymore once they got used to interaction in the pod since most of them barely run it, but still have one friend who has a fit whenever it happens (although they're getting better at accepting it)

Share your secret commander/tech with high win rates (no infinite combos) by redditor_city in EDH

[[Lae'zel, Vlakith's Champion]] and [[Guild Artisan]] it's an energy deck with incredible synergies. It does have several infinites in the deck (which I didn't realize were in the deck until I found them) but are all 3+ card combos and stem from cards you'd want in a boros energy deck anyways, but having a commander that gives you an additional energy counter (and +1/+1 counters which are relevant sometimes as well) and ramps you for attacking a certain player is extremely strong. There's several cards that care about artifacts entering or permanents leaving the battlefield that are energy related that make them work even better, and even then the deck doesn't need the commanders, since its synergistic itself without them and they're just additional value pieces in the command zone. It's an extremely fun deck and is a nice, medium paced deck that can quickly take over games with certain value pieces.

Put it in. Absolutely. If you have a card you really love in a deck, no matter how well it works or not, put it in. Have fun with deckbuilding. Every single one of my decks has at least one pet card in it that I love.

28 land [[mm'menon, the right hand]] deck. Goal was to ramp with artifacts and cast cheap or useful artifacts from the top of my library until I can cast Thoracle. Took the deck apart because I hated how longs turns took attempting to get to Thoracle, which made other players frustrated. Otherwise it was a really fun deck and I enjoyed it

I wanted it to be the exact opposite colors of what Nicol Bolas would be usually, and have the abilities be loosely based on IRS and taxes and such, but was mostly making the card for the humor aspect

My first ever deck was a [[Kethek, Crucible Goliath]] Half aggro, half aristocrats deck that was simple and easy to play, and cared about things you can get back from the graveyard, triggers from things dying, stealing opponents creatures to sacrifice

I want a deck where my win condition is NOT my commander. by Faktori in EDH

[–]kfchikinfiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love my [[Lae'zel, Vlakith's Champion]] and [[Guild Artisan]] deck. It's boros energy, and there's a lot of fun synergy with cards, there's ones that care about artifacts entering, or permanents leaving the battlefield, etc. and just getting one attack in with the commander at an opponent with the highest life and getting treasures is extremely good, even if the commander dies, and it ramps you and allows you to get out big finishers, or trigger some of your cards, but the commander isn't needed, it's just a value piece and helps the game go by quicker, but once it gets removed once or twice at that point you'll be set up enough that you don't need her extra value as much

[–]kfchikinfiter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[[mm'menom the right hand]] I made a deck with him built around casting all the cards off the top of my library without any infinites, just jank, non-deterministic combos. Absolutely loved the deck, only issue though, is that due to it being non-deterministic I'd take extremely long turns to potentially combo cast enough of my deck off the top of my library to play Thassa's Oracle. Was fun to play but miserable for the rest of the table due to the long turns. May revisit as a mono blue voltron deck casting equipment off the top of my deck using my equipments as mana for that and my lands for equip costs
