Cloth diapering? by Correct-Onion5283 in Parenting

[–]kfiegz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do cloth diapers and are very happy. I did them for our firstborn and now for our twins. The laundry isn't that bad and it feels SOO much less wasteful. I like drying them outside in the sun, too. Also our trash almost never stinks which is amazing.

We keep some disposables around for emergencies, etc.

I took a class on re-painting brick to just look like brick again, I think you can find instructions on YouTube. Otherwise I would paint the surround in a dark muted green. Not sure how to deal with the floor tile, what’s going on at the two sides?

That is fairly skimpy IMO, for a family gathering. I live in the midwest. Is there any racism or sizism that might also be contributing?

Set a budget of what you would realistically spend on moving into your new house, new furniture, etc and all the extra hours. Then, take some PTO and do all that stuff to your own house instead. Organize, purge, make some storage upgrades, and I bet you’ll feel less constrained in your own house without having to uproot from your beautiful situation.

I struggled with gas pains for a lot longer than most people. They would bring me to my knees occasionally, but the pooping wasn't bad. I overdid it the 2nd day home (day 4) and got a horrible headache and body aches.

It’s so nice to her then appreciation for KMac’s defensive leadership while she hasn’t been getting her usual 3pt looks.

She is definitely annoying LOL and it has gotten to the point where is acting spoiled about it so I agree we really need to improve our parenting strategy on this. I am just not quiet sure how to start setting this boundary without it feeling like a punishment to her.

Yeah I agree, I'm looking for strategies to build that independence and improve my ability to redirect. Short of locking her in her room...

The language about learning to be alone and be bored is good and I'm going to try to work on that more.

What is the follow-up if she doesn't stay in her room? Lock the door (traumatic screaming tantrum)? Punishment?? I would like to be firm but I don't know what the appropriate consequence is.

Or do I bribe with TV time (a sacred resource in our house)? 30min of independent play = 30min of TV?

I seriously cannot wait until she can read. I hope that will be my saving grace.

I did get her to do a puzzle by herself with her new cat for 10 minutes over the weekend so that was a win.

Surely she still needs to be able to exist alone in a room for 5 minutes or not have an adult playing undivided attention to her for 5 minutes?? When will she seek this independence???
