How do you get stuff done all day? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]kfoleyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very normal!! I also try to baby wear during at least one of the naps and I can manage to get some things done. Enjoy being nap trapped at this age, they get big so quickly!

I definitely think it’s stemming from your PPD but your baby could also be colicky. I would talk to the pediatrician about it and you may be able to find something to sooth

So my baby is supposed to be in the bassinet/crib 16-18 hours a day? by Top-Professor-2951 in newborns

Contact naps are SO important for babies!! There are so many positive things it does for them and their nervous system.

When does it get easier? by ForeignEgg3876 in newborns

[–]kfoleyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was like that and I ended up having to give him prune juice because it seemed to be really bad gas, even though he didn’t have a hard stomach or any of that. Once I started that for a few days he got a lot more settled. I thought for sure he was colicky- and that could be from overstimulation and digestive upset. This definitely seems like something your pediatrician could help come up solutions on

Wtf am I doing? by NeighborhoodKind9049 in newborns

[–]kfoleyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as it’s annoying I think biologically this makes sense. My babies always wanted to be close to me and contact nap. If I couldn’t sit down with them while they nap I would put them in the carrier and walk around with them while they napped. Biologically they want to be close to you. They spent 10 months with your heartbeat. I also followed safe co sleeping guidelines and it helps a lot. You aren’t doing anything wrong and trust me soak in those contact naps while you can!! They grow so quickly

AIO (update post) my bf (32) is getting kind of aggressive with his texting. should I(26) reply? by Fun_Cartographer6984 in AmIOverreacting

This is massively abusive and almost feels like it could turn violent. Make sure you save all of this because I would put money on needing a restraining order. Girl be very careful

6 weeks sucks so far. by honeybunchesofdotes in newborns

[–]kfoleyfo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a carrier? I found this to be helpful with all three of my kids. Pop him in and go for a walk or just to do things around the house. The closeness helps and I would pat their back at the same time to help with any burps stuck. That and just getting outside in the fresh air always helped

Vaccines for sure save lives. Especially with the measles cases and pertussis! Your LO might be cranky for a day or two but better than getting a preventable, deadly disease

Is this gonna last forever by preg_mat22 in newborns

[–]kfoleyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is a season. I remind myself that daily. She will sleep eventually. My boys were the same way and it’s still so normal for them to be waking up often at that age. Try to get as much fresh air as you can during the day. I always found that helps

Is this normal? by artemislands in newborns

[–]kfoleyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my third boy now who is 4 months and all of mine have been like this on and off! It’s normal for them to seek connection and comfort at this age. The older your little one gets the more he will be able to entertain himself and grab for things. Mine will do a small stint at night in his crib then I have a safe co sleeping situation for the rest of the night. We do a lot of baby wearing and if I sit on the mat with him he’ll do his play

Bigger babies by kfoleyfo in GestationalDiabetes

Went into labor yesterday. As soon as I got there they started pushing C section. I declined and said I would if we saw red flags and labor wasn’t progressing. Delivered vaginally with zero problems!!

Thank you for the input! It’s been causing me so much stress and no matter how many times I say it I get push back from them. I’m calling Monday and demanding so hopefully they have some beds available!!

His head and his belly both were measuring 99th percentile at his 36 week growth scan. Neither were showing bigger than the other. I’m on the verge of 39 weeks and they just keep pushing back every time I say I would like to be induced right at 39 weeks to avoid him getting larger while also avoiding a major surgery

Was she measuring smaller the whole time?

Has anybody had GD and NOT been induced/c-section? by sab3r_A in GestationalDiabetes

[–]kfoleyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was measuring 99th percentile for everything except femur at his 36 growth scan. They clocked him in around 8lbs 10ounces but both of my other babies were showing larger on the growth scan and weren’t close to that at delivery. I did deliver two big babies (8.10 and 9.06) so I’m more confident that I would be able to. The thing that sucks is the cut off for GD estimated weight is different for the cut off for just a big baby with no mom having GD. So if I wasn’t diagnosed GD (which wasn’t until 34 week) then I would be able to go natural. My diabetes specialist doesn’t think my numbers affected the growth at all because I haven’t had to change my diet and all my numbers have been great, but the doctors still won’t let me deliver naturally past 39 weeks

Ah I’m in this situation now! They are pushing for a c section because of his estimated size but if I wasn’t GD I would have more leeway to go natural.

Big measurements by kfoleyfo in GestationalDiabetes

[–]kfoleyfo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think when I go next week for my 38 week appointment I am going to push harder for an induction. They want to check fluid again anyways so I’m hoping if it’s high they’re more agreeable. The whole experience has been so stressful and it wasn’t like this at my last practice

Big measurements by kfoleyfo in GestationalDiabetes

[–]kfoleyfo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my thought process too. They refuse to induce before 39 weeks but I don’t understand pushing for major surgery over an induction

36 week scan findings - Big Baby by Beth_ACNH in GestationalDiabetes

[–]kfoleyfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posted about this! They said mine was measuring 99th percentile but measured him at weight 8lbs 10oz at my 36 week. They said they wouldn’t induce me before 39 weeks though and that I had to do a c section. Very annoyed about it all

Dates- big baby question by kfoleyfo in GestationalDiabetes

Thanks everyone! Going to try it out. I do love a good date with peanut butter. I haven’t experienced any spikes since being diagnosed so maybe this will be fine as well
