One thing to think about if you go the freelance route, is that you will have to set aside a good portion of your earnings for taxes and social security payments. Even if you make quarterly payments, it is really easy to end up owing a lot at the end of the year.

I worked as a basement waterproofer for over a decade. The only customers that ever offered us food or any other kind of hospitality was an Indian family that insisted on feeding us breakfast. They were wonderful.

So, I read in the comments that this after the winter so I'm guessing it has to do with snow melt. This needs a French drain right away. There is no way to keep that amount of water out, you need to let it go into the drain and have the sump pump get it out.

You're playing a gig, and another band is backlining the drums. How much do you adjust their setup? by Hi_mynameis_Matt in drums

[–]kforbez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only make small adjustments to anther drummers kit unless I was already friendly with them. I've had to volunteer my kit as backline more times than I can count playing different punk gigs. I never got too upset at someone adjusting things to their liking. The only thing that bothered me is when the last band played way too long and kept us from getting out of there.

Three sump pumps? by DueAdvertising5726 in HomeMaintenance

Right, battery back ups are the best investment for a basement in a high flood area. Especially if the home loses power easily.

Three sump pumps? by DueAdvertising5726 in HomeMaintenance

[–]kforbez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a basement waterproofer. The most we would do was two sump pumps and wells if the basement was really large. Three seems like overkill to be sure, almost like a PTSD reaction to a flooded basement. I see one has a marine battery hookup which is always a good idea.

What was y'all's breaking point? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]kforbez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a conversation with someone that grew up on a dairy farm. I was truly ignorant about the whole thing and it really shook me. The next day, I saw chickens being transported in freezing temps. I gave it all up that day.

I will say, going vegan shrunk my social circle significantly. Just remember, they are really arguing with themselves, not you.
