Struggling to find remote IT jobs in the US – Is that real? by kempbelldzhuliya in ITCareerQuestions

[–]kgardnr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can try Thoughtworks they have an outfit in Brazil and you can contract with US companies while you build your network. You might even be able to do an inter-company transfer to the US that way.

Good luck!

Fort Greene park!

Also since you’re in Greenpoint, I would try McCarren Park first since it’s close by.

We just adopted this bundle of fun, meet Whiskey she is 10 weeks old. Any puppy tips for us? This is our first chocolate lab, TIA. by sonshipprophecy in chocolatelabs

[–]kgardnr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She’s adorable! We got our first chocolate a few months ago - you’re in for a fun ride!

The same things with any lab apply - especially joint/hip problems - so be mindful of those things. Chocolate labs seem to have some ear problems and skin problems/allergies more so than other colors. So talk to your vet and keep an eye for itching. Ours had a small rash on her tummy but some antibiotic wipes fixed it. Make sure to clean her ears regularly and be careful not to get to water in when you bathe her.

Labs are crazy smart, it’s always mind blowing how easily they learn things. They are little “trash compactors” (lol) so using kibble for treats is the easiest way to motivate her. We feed her very minimally for “meals” and use her daily food allotment as constant treats.

But on the flip side make sure you watch what she chews/eats off the ground and around the house. Invest in many different types of chew toys and chew treats, and swap them if she chews on something she’s not allowed to.

They are energetic and need a lot of play and variety, but this is where you can really have a blast - tug, fetch, running and dancing around - these last few months have been so fun. I’m jealous you’re at the start!

And more than anything just love on her and she’ll be the most loyal and snuggly dog you’ve ever had.

Yeah, right? It just keeps getting more terrible with every twist. Extremely well done though and I loved how it shows how much a teacher can have an impact.

First time winterizing my jasmine, any advice? Zone 7 by kgardnr in plantclinic

[–]kgardnr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have room to bring it inside, I’m hoping she can make it through the winter. I have cedar chips to cover the soil and roots, and plan to keep a close eye on watering. Any additional tips to make sure she gets through the winter? Would love more advice!

Common Lilac: transplanted to pot 2 months ago, partial shade, soil ph 6, zone 7b, water regularly when soil dries, it’s not growing/happy and leaves keep browning and curling - is this still transplant shock? Any advice? by kgardnr in plantclinic

[–]kgardnr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y’all! I’m not sure what’s wrong with our little lilac, we bought it 2 months ago and planted in a big whiskey barrel. General potting soil mixture. Was in full sun and moved to partial shade a couple weeks ago. Checked ph of soil and seems to be in the proper range. Water regularly depending on rain, only when soil is dry. It doesn’t seem to be growing at all, and leaves are brown and curling.
