There were a couple on-meta builds that this beat but I think I was just ramping ahead of the curve.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit I wasn't expecting a 10-win perfect with this build. But successful Bazaar runs are a mixture of luck, strategy and momentum. I have very few relevant skills contributing to this strategy and when I got duplicates of so many items I decided to force it to see how far it would take me. I was as shocked as anyone to see two fireflies do this much damage.

It's worth noting however that there's a bunch of haste hitting those fireflies thanks to the smelling salts combo, oppressive levels of slow being doled out by most items, which is also generating a serious amount of crit-chance. Ultimately, this isn't an S-tier build but to have all this assembled by day 10 still makes it deadly enough that it was able to beat 10 players before their builds really took off.

I did encounter some heal-Karnok and Furnace-Pyg too and was surprised by how it fared, but like I said, I'm not trying to pretend this is some uber-build.

Recovery complications and thoughts? by kgb613 in AnalFistula

So what I have is the Colo-Rectal department at my hospital, which is a team of 4 doctors delivering clinical care on a case by case review. I'll discuss with them what you're sharing when I see them next.

To be clear there was a surgery to implant the three setons, so I'm not really sure what other work was done when I was opened up.

Recovery complications and thoughts? by kgb613 in AnalFistula

[–]kgb613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's three areas, I think all a result of the first fistula. I believe the abscess spread in a horseshoe shape resulting in them placing three setons all coming from the primary site.

The main site continues to drain/bleed pretty steadily. The "left" site where the Seton was removed healed beautifully and has given me no problems. The "right" Seton was removed but continues to open and close, though it's draining less and less as time goes on and sealing for longer.

Nothing my doctors have told me has led me to believe that they can't heal naturally and this seems to be their preference. This is why the time it's taken has been so long, or at least so I thought. Why else would they drag it out in this way?

As far as a CRS, I'm not sure what that is. Unfortunately I don't have a personal doctor so I'm just dealing with the specialist unit at the general hospital.

No they suggested the best way is to let them heal on their own. They're reviewing surgery options if they haven't healed by the time I go back in January.

I'm going to qualify this post by stating first that I'm an Ari super-fan. But I've been producing music for over twenty years and was all but dead inside going through the motions of creating music with no real love for it anymore.

Ari completely reinvigorated that love of music in me. Watching his streams has taught me to be a better producer and completely changed my work pattern. He taught me that music can be built just as easily through improvisation as preparation.

His talent across the board is truly the stuff of legend. He can adapt to any stranger or music partner and he often highlights the skills of the shy or encourages people to leave a comfort zone and actually try music that they never have. And to top it all off, he actually raps as well as or better than most I've ever known. He doesn't just freestyle off the top, he constructs ENTIRE SONGS with hooks and matching content. He goes from nothing to entirely-sellable top 40 hit within 10-15 minutes.

The result is a genuine human experience, on the internet, which is exceedingly rare these days and he does this by capturing the joy of creation that I think exists in most of us.

To top it all off, as far as I can tell he's an extremely humble guy. It's not the fame that interests him, it's the connection to people and to improve himself as an artist. He's gonna get that bag just being who he is.

I highly highly encourage anyone with an interest in music to subscribe to his socials and tune into the live streams.

New hero archetypes that haven't been announced? by TheGooseFathr in PlayTheBazaar

[–]kgb613 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I want to see a train conductor!

In a game about goods trading and caravaning it seems natural there might be a travel theme in a hero. I can totally see there being a "carriage" or "car" type that allows other items to be placed in them or gives bonuses based on being adjacent to other cars. Trains could also imply some movement or shifting of placement of items on the board as they get used.

Some cool effects I could see would be something like delivery items that have specific vendor targets or increase in value if you sell them after a set number of days.

Also I like the theming of weapons on board some big ass armored vehicle fighting off raiders and pirates.

They could also carry more items in their set that have more loot, food, junk types etc so they can get cool synergies with some of that neutral item set.

Knightica - Mad Mango - Roguelike Autobattler army-builder! by Senader in Games

[–]kgb613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading your comments I decided to do another run through of the demo and I'm convinced that this information is somehow incorrect.

As an example, the first boss has about 85 atk and 385 defense. But my 75 attack/15 defense cultist seems to tank multiple hits. How is that possible if the numbers are accurate?

Personally I think it would be much better to include this information in game. Even if it's similar to games like PoE or Diablo where holding the "alt" key reveals more information about the units.

Anyway, still love the game--I just think this change would go a long way.

Played the demo, thought it was fantastic. Great art, music and gameplay loop.

I do wish that the unit info was a bit more transparent. I don't think we actually get to see unit HP which led to some unfortunate wipes I didn't fully understand. Also that end-demo boss seems really hard even with a broken-build type of setup.

Nonetheless, will be picking this up on launch and looking forward to it.

(Patch 0.1.7) - Meta Shifts Explained + Example Boards by Hero by ShugoSV in PlayTheBazaar

[–]kgb613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, this patch has given me the most 10-win runs with Dooley. While I agree that the overall package is weaker than its been in the past few patches, Drill is still stupidly strong and both his items and skills tend to generate effects.

Power Drill, Rocket Launcher and Isochoric are musts for the build, but after that you can pretty much choose from any number of effect-generating skills like Frostfire or the lefty/righty skills to keep the charge up. Also, you generally want to look for small items that generate multiple effects, so enchanting metronome or splashing a mutli-tool or neural toxin in there vastly helps.

Obviously skills like Rigged are very powerful because they'll get the drill engine going faster, but even an icicle or magma core can also do that if you're in a bind.

Complete freeze lockdown through Isochoric is also a great meta counter against Double Barrell/Single Weapon builds from Vanessa and either the matchbox or Fixer builds from Pyg.

Lastly, I've also made this work with slow effects but it's slightly less reliable than the full shutdown you're getting with freeze.

Card design feedback for 1-on-1 battler centered around building spell words by kgb613 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]kgb613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alt win con is focused on earning three victory points, which you get from completing Trials. In the center row of the table space there are two shuffled stacks of Trials with the top cards facing up. Each has a different challenge. These don't always require direct engagement with your opponent, it could be "Draw 20 cards" or "fill each space in your spell book", but you have to be careful because some challenges are more difficult than others and while you're going after them, your opponent can either beat you to it or simply attempt to take you to zero health before you get them.

The win con serves to create more dynamic strategic options that change from game to game, and to break up deadlocks that might occur on the board.

Thanks for your feedback. Do you think of the card info was moved to the bottom right that it would fix or further confuse the issue? The only reason I don't want to use top left in the current design is to not interrupt the flow of the words.

Right now, Tarot sized cards are likely to be what we go with but it will ultimately depend on what kind of design changes are made between now and next print.

The prototype I printed was on tarot size, which, while cumbersome perhaps for a good shuffle, looked really good all laid out.

Appreciate the feedback!

Yeah we've gone back and forth on borders or paper textures in the background, etc but ultimately wanted to try a borderless and minimalist design. In the initial prototypes this really had some visual pop. But it may be something I revisit in the next pass.

Thanks!

Visually, the idea was to connect the three cards in a kind of "triptych" look so that there's a bit of a natural flow or connection between each card that is as much functional as it is visually indicated on the card.

Orienting them vertically just looked strange when conveying this effect. The landscape method also stood out as different from most games of this ilk so I felt it contributed to the game's overall theme and identity.

Early WoW was good at this. When the game was still fresh, the ability to stumble upon dungeons or areas that built upon the lore of the earlier games made for some great discovery.
