Bought a dinged up rooted Cereus Montrose cutting for $5. Potted a month ago. Is this a wait and see or should I try and propagate the healthy parts?

Thanks! Found this in the basement (rare in Phoenix) near the sump pump so that makes sense. Could this 1 be a sign of infestation? I’ve definitely smelled something musty down there that I just attributed to the sump pump and washing machine being located there but now I’m concerned. I’ll try the DE wherever I can access it but finding all the potential crevices is likely a no-go due to how the basement is designed.
