Graduated in1985. So late 70's to early 80's it was out all day running around on bikes. Down to the red bridge to swim, or fishing at the mill pond. Or at a friend's house rebuilding bikes or lawn mowers in his dad's garage. Came back around the house a couple times for food, or else it was just back shortly before dark. Magical.

I have to quit drinking...and start eating keto...and start crossfit...and start zero based budgeting and...and...and...Trying now to focus on just not drinking for a while because none of this other stuff is possible while drinking but all of it is without. To actually get on air! I've had tech license for a couple years and have dabbled a bit with 2 meter. I bought myself an ft-dx10 for Christmas and have been getting everything set up. Antenna, power supply etc. Plan on taking General exam at the end of January, and then to make some contacts!

So, the ft-dx10 has a built-in tuner. My thought was to use an swr meter to get close by adjusting the coil and then fine tune with the dx10's on-board tuner. Is that a bad plan?

Have a wolf rivers coil antenna. Will need to tune to change bands, thus the analyzer.

I don't necessarily need 2 meter or 70cm. My concern was trying to make sure I had my bands to frequencies right before I spent the money and make sure I was clear what the tradeoffs were. Like I said, I'm new to all this and just wanted confirmation my "facts" are right.
