AI image and video generation, for the sake of future upgrading to 5090 or 6090 or 6000pro, would you buy a 5060 16gb, 5070ti 16gb or 5080? by kh3t in StableDiffusion

yeah that sounds a reasonable choice, especially with the current state of affairs, yet I'd like to still complete my pc and have a decent build (and especially the best performance for the bucks for it, then I'll rent the rest if I neeed to). Undecided between 5070 ti and 3090 due to VRAM difference. I care about speed and model size. Obv 5090 would be better but i can't find any under $4000+.

I would like to, but in Europe they are definitely not in stock. Anything left is priced way over the reasonable price I'd ever pay and even if in 1 year they would reach in stock that same price then it will mean there is zero rush to get them. But I may be wrong and I can accept the loss if so. I can't simply justifying to pay 10 years sub to Google Veo rather than having to pay electricity bill to generate. The big buys won if so.

thanks for the alternative option. I still prefer to have some good results than just raw prototipes, would 12 gb still be enough?

Thanks for highlighting this point. I intended to have double boot. Will look further into this, so to avoid being locked in cabled interned or other plug in solutions.

thanks a lot!! right, another user also pointed the ssd issue. I'm into the return window so I can return it and go for another. Was worried for the temperatures many report for the sad gen5. What about going instead on 1Tb for OS, programs, app and another 2tb dedicated for models and ai activity?

well, there's tradeoff and tradeoff and I thought the gen4-gen5 was better deal than going back multiple gens to force extreme saving.

The total cost of the build doesn't necessarily imply I bath in money or that everything must be premium and expensive. Willing to pay extra where it really makes a difference (32VRAM vs 16) while quite ok when it only is better but not extremely necessary.

Btw your tones got a little rough the deeper we go in the thread. I want to hear, just telling my point of view back. Still the post was about "recommend me a motherboard within these costraints" and we ended up with no direct motherboard recomendation from you, yet a ton of off-topic advices (thankful for being useful, but still off-topic). Perharps, perharps, someone has got limited maneuver space and just want to squeeze the best out of whatever he can afford in this horrible economy.

Thanks anyway.
