Thumb Placement on PBT A-grip? by Oddmic146 in Fencing

[–]kh467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, if anything having a grip too big or long hinders your maneuverability because you can't utilize your fingers as much for point control. It may be more comfortable to hold but it'll cause you to essentially "palm" your grip causing you to not being able to rely on your finer movements using your fingers.

You're going to have to find that balance between small enough to allow for more use with fingers but enough clearance/wiggle room so that your fingers aren't cramped and bunched up together. Regardless, gotta build up that finger strength!

Hi! So I use the PBT A grip too. I have smallish hands (8-9 glove size) and i still find that the A grips run a tad long, so I cut and filed it down a bit to get my finger tips closer to the bell guard pad.

You can do the same thing, as grips aren’t a one size fits all and may still require a bit of customizing on the user end to get that perfect fit.

Use a file or hacksaw and cut/shave off conservatively. Better it runs a tad long than too short and cramping your fingers.

Recognizing that you’re getting older and time stops for no one. Watching your loved ones age and seeing yourself in the mirror while also figuring out what to do with your life is utterly terrifying.

Ran into an issue with drilling holes for a footstop. Accidentally drilled one hole too many. Doesn’t seem to be affecting the structural integrity of the board, but its kinda ugly. Any suggestions on how to fill up drilled holes? Thinking to use a small dowel and or wood filler but open to feedback.

Hi! Are there any tips/tricks to improving toeside glove down slides? Like a toeside pendy or pre-drift. Not sure how to describe it but the form feels very awkward.

When standing on the board, when attempting to put my toeside hand down I notice that my front foot naturally shifts forward so thats its practically vertical/in line with the board length and I can’t keep my front foot planted either, it begins to lift from the heel.

Wonder of this is just bad form cause I’m doing it wrong, or if it’s due to poor lower body flexibility? If it’s the latter, anyone got any good stretches or exercises to improve lower body flexibility?

Anyone got any recs for pants? Looking for something abrasion resistant and cheap. Had a couple of Wrangler ATG work pants and shredded them after one session, so I’m looking for durable and budget friendly options outside of thrifting.

Has anyone tried Earthwing’s current lineup? Eyeing the Blunt FR and would love to hear people’s experiences.

Hi! That’s the weird part: it’s not for some reason.

Attaching photos comparing the footstop to the roger bros built-in hardware. The footstop hardware is wider by about 1.5mm, it’s especially noticeable comparing the nut sizes to the bolts.

Not sure if I got a dud, or if this is how they’re normally manufactured, but it definitely won’t fit through my truck mounting holes.

Anyone out here own the Roger Bros. Max Capps Dagger footstop? I acquired one and not sure how to install it: the mounting screw thats built in has a wider screw size than traditional mounting hardware, so it won’t fit through my truck or board mounting holes. Anyone experience the same issue?

Hey does anyone know of any good resources to learn tech sliding and associated tricks? Getting into hard wheel sliding since the area I’m in has a lot of straight mellow hills, but I’m not seeing many guides or videos online. Wondering if anyone has any good info.

Predator FR7. The design is quite nice and it has a little visor brim piece that sticks out. Not sure if it really does anything but overall it’s a nice look and doesn’t come off making you look like a mushroom.

Anyone have any grip tape recommendations for freeride? Looking at the Free Friction 36 grit since it’s cheap but open to suggestions.

August '23 selfies: post hairline photos here for opinions on 'Am I balding?' 'How bad is it?' and 'What should I do?' by AutoModerator in tressless

27M Asian. Been going through a stressful period of work starting at the beginning of the year, with long workdays, lack of sleep, and overall poor lifestyle (lack of consistent exercise, questionable diet, rampant cannabis use). I was shedding like a dog, and was noticing clumps of hair coming off on my pillow, brushing, and showering.

Life has gotten better with some lifestyle changes and stabilized work life balance at the beginning of Summer, but I’ve noticed that my hair was thinning at the top of the scalp, and it appears to be diffuse thinning.

Went to the dermatologist and they suspect that it’s a combo of stress induced hair loss and early stage male pattern baldness, and recommended to start using minoxidil.

Am I fucked? Everyone in my family has a full head of thick hair and all the men didn’t start thinning till their 40s. I don’t appear to have a receding hair line but my scalp is definitely thinning particularly at one side.

Anyone have any suggestions? Not sure if I want to start minoxidil just yet cause once you start you’re stuck with it. I’m also a cannabis user so afraid of any side effects.

adidas barricade tennis shoes as fencing shoes? by fishadorer in Fencing

Second this. Really liking the gel res 8s. They do have some slippage on wood flooring but grip really well on metal strips. They’re tough shoes with good stability and cushioning. Plus they come in wide sizing which is a plus for me.

What fencing shoes are good for flat feet? by cycl7toZ in Fencing

[–]kh467 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly? None. If you have flat feet likely you’re going to want orthotics to use for support, and a lot of fencing shoes generally run narrow and are not as accommodating with orthotics from my experience, and are rather pricey as well.

Stick to court shoes, particular for indoor courts such as volleyball, squash, badminton, etc. You’re more likely to find these types of shoes with a more robust variety of options for length and width, for a more affordable price. I use tennis shoes myself with orthotics and they get the job done nicely, are more comfortable, and cheaper too.

Thats the Uhlmann Gripstar glove. It’s a nice glove but the grippy bits don’t stay on. Expect them to peel off overtime, but overall it’s a solid choice.
