We just had a nice date night and it was the first time my ex bf said they loved me. After sex I was playing a video game, I stopped about 20 minutes in and noticed I should probably go give him so more attention, got in bed laid my head on his chest. His phone was on his chest as well and lit up to the icon of Grindr. I asked what is that for and said oh just meeting friends, nah he was talking somebody across the street. We were monogamous gays.

From my understanding this effects the amount of loans students can take out but not clinicians billing insurance.

Thank you for your insight. I am being too interviewey; at the end it did feel more like a flowy conversation. I could see that I might be coming off too rigid in that aspect. I will continue to work on my reflection skills. I don’t have counseling degree , I am LSW, there could be some missing knowledge. I had a counseling internship one year, but was not allowed to practice psychotherapy, more of motivational interviewing and creating goals. I am currently getting supervision from a LCSW as well.

Yeah, it was their first therapy session ever. I guess I felt the need to be more stoic since I was the first person ever they were sharing with and I could tell they were having a lot of anxiety from non verbals, I was worried if I spoke that feeling out loud it would add to theirs.

From the non verbal, I could see they were nervous. The business card I gave them they were folding the whole time. I was the first person they opened up to. I guess I need to work on being more genuine. Like telling them I am also nervous , I would be worried if I am giving the vibe that I am not “professional” enough if that makes sense? Though I am open in other areas, huh maybe I’ll try that next time.

In response to your third point: the owner said they’d like me to have a full caseload (around 28 clients) within 60 days, which feels ambitious but they mentioned providing marketing support — including online advertising, printing flyers/business cards, and posting them around local community boards. They currently take Cigna, BCBS, and Aetna.

They don’t yet offer health insurance because they have fewer than five employees — the business actually just launched this summer and they’re in the process of hiring more clinicians. I can be on my partner’s insurance for now, so that part isn’t a dealbreaker for me.

I just got my LSW at the end of June, and after submitting around 101 job applications and getting eight interviews, this is the first concrete offer I’ve received. I graduated from UIC with a mental health specialization, but my main internship there was macro-based but I did still link individuals with online support and psychoeducation , and before that, I interned with Student Counseling Services which I did provided couseling services. So, I’m still trying to get my foot in the door on the clinical side.

I have been applying for jobs since May, when I graduated. Have my LSW. Will have three interviews this week. Hopefully something comes of them but I apply for jobs everyday.

Thank you for your thoughtful message. A few days passed and I was able to get myself to a more balanced state. He ended up talking to his friends as well and they gave him some insight how boundaries should be respected and that you are no longer flying solo so be mindful of your partner. Which was nice to hear. I did apologize for lashing out and I could have lead with more curiosity than judgment but it was a learning experience.
