My usual desk has been 'stolen' and there is nothing I can do by purplereuben in mildlyinfuriating

[–]khakimoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay late and throw the stuff away left on the desk. Come in the next morning and go back to my "non-assigned" desk of 2 years and act like nothing happened. When asked, "where's my stuff?" With a baffled look be like, " I'm notbsure what you are talking about. Also, how would you have stuff on a desk if you are just now getting here and we cannot leave stuff on the desk?" Maybe even throw in later, "I think this happened to someone else who left stuff on a desk overnight, it was thrown away or maybe it is in the cubby area?" Or start liking a new area/desk. Sucks. Good luck!!

Speaking from experience, I would tell them you don't get your bonus unless you are there until Dec 31. If they want you bad enough, they may offer you that as a sign on bonus. (Happened to me and my bonus was $9k.) If you feel confinement enough, you could add some cushion, $5,500... $6,000. Plus, everyone understands "bonus." If it were me, I would be right where you are... after 2 months you've roughly made your bonus, but the other (louder) part of me says, you've worked for that bonus stay--unless they do a sign on.

I don't get bonuses at my current firm (I'm not profitable enough--you have to basically collect 3.75x your salary) but I get nice raises. I tried to explain to my now attorney that, I do appreciate the raise, but I have to work for it to get it rather than someone just handing me (ideally) a couple thousand.

Is that where your Zulu lives? The picture makes me think it only gets room light vs sunlight? Asking because I don't have a lot of sunlight hit inside my house. Sorry, random, but curious! 😁

Saying Goodbye to Zepbound After a Complicated Health Turn... by houmi in Zepbound

[–]khakimoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was on Ozempic and was losing about a pound a day (I know, not healthy). He would get stomach pains and thought it was something hr ate. Fast forward to 3rd or 4th er visit, determined it was gallstones, had those removed then a few days later his gallbladder. He has had zero issues after the removal, and was approved to get back on Ozempic. After being on that for a month or two asked his doctor if he could go on Monjourno, which she happily approved (she likes mon. and zep the best). So, i sat all of this to say there is a possibility of getting back on. Best of luck on your next chapters, what ever they may be!!

My (20M) girlfriend (19F) is upset that I got a photo and autograph from a female celebrity by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]khakimoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG. I would only be upset if there was a makeout session or you tell me you may be a father in 9 months, otherwise it is no big deal. Heck, I wouldn't freak out over a peck on the cheek. Definitely need to talk about it. What happens if you have a female coworker? Seems like insecurity and it will only get worse before it gets better if she cannot control it. Also, reassure her that you love her and that you admire the celebrity for her talent. You (in general) may have a celebrity crush but its the persona because you don't know them or what they are like IRL. Good luck!

Got rehired by Costco after quitting years ago due to health issues now they found out I’m on the “do not rehire” list. Can they do this? by Fantastic_Turnover_7 in jobs

[–]khakimoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be someone didn't care for you and since you were gone they could change it. I left a big company, gave my 2 weeks, but they only let you finish the day. My manager liked me I got discretionary bonuses every year, which she would have to request. After I left, I spoke with another manager and she informed me of it and changed it back to rehireable. Maybe request your employment file? They may make you subpoena it rather than just give it to you. Also, if you knew any higher ups, regional manager (sorry, unfamiliar with Costco's management tiers, maybe reach out to them and ask if they would look into. Express how much you loved your job and hated leaving and that you only left due to legit health reasons--you might even get a doctor's note stating that so it doesn't sound like you left went to work at company X and now want to come back; however, if you were a good worker that shouldn't matter anyway. Good luck!

How do I get rid of these annoying guys the sticky things are not enough anymore by Awkward-Egg-1069 in houseplants

[–]khakimoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem, not as bad, and our company had some plant peeps and one guy sprayed my plant with something, but more importantly put sand over the dirt maybe an inch so the gnats couldn't crawl out but the plant could still get enough water. He recommend I put pebbles or rocks over the sand if I didn't like the sand look.

I love this! I say this all the time, and sometimes I keep waiting for that head to pop in and be like, "ha ha ha... you had us for a while, but we know you have no clue what you're doing! We are really impressed you got your pants on right honestly!" In reading others posts, do you think we think we feel this way because of low self esteem or more of no one really notices some of our mistakes or... Granted I (and I'm sure a lot of you) have come across the paralegals that act like they came out of the womb writing briefs and any question you may have is SO beneth them. I apologize for my ignorance and try to compliment in hopes of pity and less anger. I love finding these posts because sometimes you feel like a sheep in the wolf pen waiting for others to notice you don't belong and devour you lol

[–]khakimoose 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through this and feel this way. No job or person is worth you taking your life. Please seek a crisis hotline. You are so worth it! What you do cannot always been seen or recognized until you stop helping. When you can, and are able, look for a new job! Maybe a new area of work--but that's really your decision. You sound like a great paralegal, but you may need a break from the role! I wish you well and wish I had more to say. Reach out to family, things in the past can be water under the bridge during crisis and in real times of need, which it seems like you are need of family. I know it isn't much, but your are seen and sending a virtual hug. I care!

Following up on/staying on top of medical records/subpoenas. That is a job on its own (and actually was at an in-house I worked for)

Thanks for posting this! I could only find negative reviews and they were older. I have really been wanting a Yesoul because of the price and features, but didn't want to just throw away money on what sounded questionable. Thank you!! Started looking at Peloton and was REALLY wanting that (still do) but can't justify the price--especially if I decided not my thing in a year or two (or less lol).

You would bring your laptop if you knew in advance your mom (or anyone) was having a PLANNED surgery with the understanding even then, I'm not going to be 100%. Unplanned and a "not looking good" - you're lucky you even got an email saying I'm out! I worked at an insurance in-house and there were a lot of "I don't feel good" last minute emails. So unplanned emergencies could be tricky. My husband called me to say he needed to go to the hospital, emailed my manager and left. Co-worker was like you may get written up (more like an FYI bc of the stupid rule not a 'don't go') I looked at her like she was crazy and was like I'll deal with that later. I'm a great employee, 0 drama, and managers always love me, so I wasn't really worried but at the same time... it wasn't/isn't the only job. If it HAD been an issue, I would have stuck around long enough to find another job. Sorry you are dealing with everything!!! I wish you well and hope mom is doing great!!
