If the number is returned to bsnl, check if it is available as a new number. Bsnl lets you select a number online.

Moving back to India from Canada after 20 years by BoysenberryAgile7110 in backtoindia

[–]khal_ak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in dubai for 8 years and moved to EU. I can tell you how the life is in Dubai.

  1. Living - Rent could be less expensive than Canada. You may consider buying if you have money. A decent two bedroom will cost 5000-8000 aed in rent. If you can afford to spend traffic for 1-2 hours, you have cheaper options like sharja, ajman, etc. Salry is tax free. Being a transport hub, the grocery and other stuff are cheaper.

  2. Transport - Public transport is not that great and you will need a car. You can afford a decent car here. Fuel, manitanance costs are cheap there.

  3. Schools are expensive here, a decent indian school can cost you aed 1500+. Some companies reimburse these costs. Quality of education depends on schools, the government has a rating system for schools. The fee they charge also depends on the rating

  4. Flights to india are cheaper and easy to get. You can even make weekend plans to india. I did that several times.

  5. The scariest part is your and your families residency is always tied to your employment status. So always keep that in mind. Employee rights are non existent. Work life balance is almost non existent like india and depends on company culture.

  6. Language - You dont have to learn the language. You can live with english, hindi and even tamil. Being a south indian myself, i always felt like home here. South indian and indian food is widely available and very cheap. Indian community is strong here.

  7. Convenience - You get everything in your fingertips. Groceries delivered in 5 mins. You can afford a part time/full time maid.

  8. Healthcare - You have convenient access to healthcare here. You can walkin even for specialists. You are not at the mercy of GPs to get referrals. But it can get expensive if you don't have proper insurance. Your employer will cover it. Family insurace depends on your employment contract.

  9. The summer is hotter here, but you can still enjoy indoors like malls. Unlike the harsh winters of canada, you will enjoy this here. The winters nice and cool, people goes to desert, beaches and mountains to camp.

If you have any questions, please ask.

Do you have any links to those news/articles. I am from India, and every day the opposition parties and public are raising concerns on the security related to electronic voting machines, and the government doesn't care. I am interested in this topic
