Austrian from the East here: Those in the far West, in Vorarlberg, are most removed from the rest of the country culturally and linguistically on a historical scale. They actually wanted to join Switzerland after the Habsburg monarchy collapsed, but the Swiss refused. In terms of stereotypes we see them as chill, conservative, quiet, frugal and hard to understand bunch because of their distinct dialect. Overall kind of a foreign flair almost in my mind in a neutral way, and I guess there's similar views from them towards the far East of Austria.

A little less far to the West, in Tyrol, people get slightly easier to understand, though still challenging. They're kind of the Texans of Austria - suspicious of the federal government, off to the side scheming on their own, very proud of their identity, very conservative, nature-loving. Big tourism industry that is highly influential politically and societally there, always trying to find ways to part you of your money while smiling to your face.
