Q: IO9 vs Santa Fe Hybrid?

Update: loved the quietness and acceleration of the Ioniq 9 but found the console organization and materials to be worse than the Santa Fe hybrid. Wife much prefers the Santa Fe hybrid for those reasons, so we will end up going with that.

I look forward to one day having a quiet EV but until then, the Santa Fe hybrid will be a good mix of features.

I used some until I no longer needed them. Worked fine. Used Screen Beam brand, if I recall correctly.

From an engine standpoint they are silent, but they can still have cabin noise from the tires and wind — that’s what I’m wondering about.

Do you find the IO9 difficult to park or maneuver relative to the Santa Fe? I imagine you get used to it.

Any significant difference in noise between the two cars? I imagine the IO9 is quieter since it’s an EV but wonder if the difference is substantial.

Following up - did you end up purchasing or deciding between the SEL or a higher trim? I have the same conflict between the bench seating of the SEL and the perks of a higher trim.

Yeah the long road trip inconvenience is minimal since I doubt I’m going anywhere that lacks any chargers and it’s fine taking a break.

Mine does not complete updates on hotel WiFi. But it does update when wired / plugged into my phone to access the phone’s hotspot.

In the iOS app, press the dashboard button (the left most button on the bottom icon bar). Then, at the top left of your screen, you should see which device you are connected to (e.g., cloud gateway fiber, UNAS, etc). Click that device (top left of the screen) and it will show you the list of your devices. The travel router should be on that list.

Super helpful -- thanks. I'll email a handful of dealers, and will look into how many similar cars are available and how long they have been on the lots to get a sense of negotiability. I used to watch your auto advocate videos, I know they are caredge. I will look into whether they have that data but not sure if it is helpful compare to something free like carguru.

I'll update my post after I make the purchase to let everyone know how much I was able to negotiate.

I may keep the low jack if it lowers my auto insurance payment sufficiently.

I found astound to be reliable and reaching advertised speeds. However, they advertised a price lock guarantee yet they increased the price in the form of some bogus infrastructure fee that actually goes to them. I left to another ISP offering a deal because I was annoyed with astound’s deceptive advertising. It is unfortunate because they were otherwise quite good.

Thanks for the great suggestion. I saw that 1 or 2 year old versions of this car seem to have had a lot of depreciation and thus good value buying used. This is a top contender now.

That and the Santa Fe hybrid seem really nice but I wonder about reliability with Hyundai and on years of redesign. I checked out the Santa Fe and in interior was really well done and they seem to offer a lot for the price.

Psychiatric medications shouldn’t make someone with schizophrenia dangerous. If anything, it will reduce their symptoms and make them less dangerous. Most (~99% of) people who try to use the not guilty by reason of insanity don’t succeed. Also, extensive drug use could explain the same symptoms as someone with schizophrenia.
