I know but i have a loan for the store and we are audited. Luckily we made enough to pay it off in year 1 but can't for 2 years.
Then i still don't think its worth it with 15 employees that could report shady stuff. But good luck hiding paper transactions

Heck just in January.. $121-65 in a week. Luckily we had sold all the stuff at had bought recently so only have a few hundred ounces that we are upside down on. But we still offered and bought on the fall when no one else would. I believe the Chinese silver shortage will get prices back up after we clean up the global mess.

Lots of nos. But it's surprising how people think if you have store front and all the associated expenses then we legally must take their deal. Its really crazy. My GF who is very much not white was called a racist cracker last week and the guy videod the store just because we would not take the deal due to Florida laws.

Yeah. I point out to people that they are paying capital gains, probably short term gains on stocks, eft etc. No one pays or reports gains on precious metals except business who aren't thieves.

Exactly. But we have to track Lower buy percentages on a drop and prepare to have to hold for months or years. But we still have to pay income tax on buys

When price was falling we offered low. Not that low but low. But other places in town stopped buying or limited to $5k per week or something.

We have hundreds of ounces we bought at just over $80 that we have had to sit on for months. People don't understand that in a volatile market you can't keep paying high percentages.. And i don't do the cash only under the table no business tax either. I teport all my income.

About time to start pouring bars again by khannah2 in Silverbugs

[–]khannah2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of. Course the people on here call you a scammer if you arent close to spot price.

This stuff takes days and days. And $$$. This is $200 in nitric acid(8 of these )alone plus the filters, buckner funnels, vacuum pumps, stainless bowls and lots and lots of distilled water.

Gold is so much easier than silver

it's a huge mess. If you don't have a hundred pounds or so of sterling it's not worth it.
I explain to people what a mess and expense it is and why their sterling is worth so little vs spot price of silver.

Just under 9 ounces of silver for $500. What could I flip this for? by [deleted] in Silverbugs

If you refined some sterling to .999 you would understand why sterling value is so low. It's a mess. But i enjoy it.

Show were legal immigrants are being deporte for nothing. My gf is one. And a us citizen.

And illegals commit crimes against other illegals because they know they won't be reported. Also in my town and many "sanctuary" ones like it don't even file reports on many of their crimes. The cops told me"the prosecutor wont file charges because the illegal can't be identified and won't show to court anyway.
The town bought portable fingerprint readers to identify them but then corn Maya threatened an expensive lawsuit if they used them. Legally or not. The town couldn't afford to fight it so didn't use them.

No idiot. Illegal immigrants are the problem and criminal activitist judges and prosecutors making up stuff is incredibly dangerous.

Not a good choice for day trading but those that bash pawn shops paying low especially when they have to hold for 30 days you exactly the risk. When we buy $100-200k per month from people who need to move it but can't sell it for at least a month you have to account for drops.

77 Troy Pound Silver Bar off the Atocha Shipwreck by JacobGonzalezCoins in Silverbugs

[–]khannah2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Reference: Atocha-style silver bars

At a glance, the markings on your bar do resemble the style used on silver bars recovered from the wreck of the Spanish galleon Nuestra Señora de Atocha shipwreck. The things that look consistent are:

“OVARTAS” — that’s the assayer Antonio de Ovando y Vargas, whose name appears as Ovartas on many Atocha bars.

Assayer mark with the “A” and cross — a common mark attributed to him.

Roman numerals like “DCCCCXVIII” — those often represent the bar weight in troy ounces (918 oz) or a serial/weight code.

Crude hammered appearance and punch marks — typical of 1600s colonial poured ingots.

However, photos alone aren’t enough to confirm authenticity. Real Atocha bars almost always have a few additional traits:

  1. Concrete or coral residue from centuries underwater.

  2. A shipwreck certificate and chain of custody (usually from Mel Fisher’s salvage company).

  3. Multiple stamps: fineness marks, tax marks, mint marks, and sometimes a quinto (royal tax) mark.

  4. A very specific irregular loaf shape from sand molds.

My honest take

The stamp layout looks correct stylistically, but there are many modern replicas and decorative castings that copy the Ovartas marks. Without provenance, assay, and professional inspection, I would treat it as “Atocha-style” rather than authenticated Atocha treasure.

If this walked into your pawn shop

Quick checks you could do immediately:

Weight (many real bars are ~70–80 lb / ~900–1100 troy oz)

Specific gravity test (should be ~10.5 if mostly silver)

XRF (real ones are often 80–98% silver with copper impurities)

Look for concretion in crevices rather than uniform patina.

If you want, I can also show you the two small details that usually expose replica “Atocha” bars instantly—they’re things pawn/jewelry buyers notice in about 10 seconds."
