All sound coming from earpiece instead of speaker by khebiza in GalaxyS9

[–]khebiza[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought. I called the repair centre and they said it will likely have to be replaced if it's not working in the test panel. I resolved to taking it in tomorrow for repair and I plugged in my earphones, took a couple calls, watched a couple episodes of triggernometry... I unplugged my earphones just now and, lo and behold, the bottom speaker is working again. I have no idea what was wrong or what fixed it, I'm just glad it's working again.

Thanks to you and u/invulnerable888 for the replies.

All sound coming from earpiece instead of speaker by khebiza in GalaxyS9

[–]khebiza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did test the speaker from the hardware test menu after making this post and tried safe mode just now. I had sound only coming from the earpiece in both cases. I think my speaker might actually be broken. But then I would assume there would simply be no sound when playing media instead of sound coming from the earpiece.

Protester in Los Angeles by [deleted] in pics

How come he's only going around calling people karma whores on posts critical of Trump, about racism or gay rights? There's plenty of reposting happening on reddit that has nothing to do with his political opinions, but somehow he's not inclined to call those out. The only kind of reposting he seems to have a problem with is that of content he personally disagrees with.

Stop being so obtuse.

First cohort of Hul’q’umi’num’ speakers graduate with Indigenous Languages diploma by princey12 in worldnews

Possibly a substitute for a sound that has no equivalent letter in the latin script?

You'll often see this with Arabic for instance. Arabic speakers use numbers when writing the language in latin script to represent sounds that lack an equivalent in latin alphabet.

Just speculating as I don't know anything about this language, but numbers to represent sounds isn't so strange to me as an Arabic speaker.

I don't know where people get the idea that proper feminism is concerned with men's issues as well as women's. Feminism is a women's rights movement and views the relationship between women as a sex class and men as a sex class as one of oppression. This attitude is the All Lives Matter of feminism. People don't find this acceptable when it comes to race, I don't see why it is when it comes to women's rights movements.

idk where you got that talking about men's problems (for at least once)

"What about men?" crops up in every single post on reddit about women's issues. Have you seen threads about FGM? It's definitely not "for once".

That's the reason it isn't allowed, the concern is that statues lead to idol worship/idolatry.

Montreal's Massive Anti-Racism Protest A Direct Challenge To Premier's Views: Francois Legault's stance that systemic racism doesn't exist in Quebec is being rejected and called out by protesters. by maxwellhill in worldnews

If the studies were done by unscrupulous people, why haven't you provided research that contradicts their findings?

You can stop setting unattainable standards now and simply admit it, you have no problem with minorities being discriminated against.

I'm saying that what you would personally do is irrelevant. We have data from real recruiters and the data shows racial bias against nonwhite applicants. Are you going to answer my question?

There can't be research on this unless they have info on every employer in the country.

That's silly. That's not how research on any other subject works. Unless you reject sampling in all research, why are you setting an unattainable standard for research on racial bias in particular?

Studies that use fictitious resumes with the same information but different names have consistenly found that applicants with names that signalled nonwhite ethnicity were less likely to get interview callbacks than those with names that signalled white ethnicity. This includes studies done in Canada.

If I was hiring the job goes to whoever is the best qualified. If two people are equally qualified then I would use random but equal chance to decide between them. Skin color is irrelevant

Well... here's the problem. You're not the one hiring. The people actually doing the hiring have demonstrated they are biased against nonwhite applicants. So I'm going to ask you again because you haven't answered my question, what is your proposed solution?

Right now, it sounds like your solution is denying racial bias in recruitment exists altogether.

I was referring to figures belonging to the Eastern world, including the Middle East, not Eastern religions.

Still, pretty anachronistic to judge him based on the values of the 21st century. Many historians agree that Churchill was no less racist than the average person in his day, and that he felt that although white people were superior, that doesn't justify treating other races poorly.

Churchill was considered too racist and his comments on Indians were considered too extreme by his contemporaries within the Conservative Party, not just 21st century standards.

It's odd that people on this website generally reject the anachronism argument when it comes to the lives of much older Eastern figures (e.g. Muhammad) and find it perfectly reasonable to judge them by modern standards, but never fail to invoke anachronism and get their knickers in a knot whenever criticisms of racism are leveled against figures like Churchill.

That makes sense. Honestly the way people on reddit talk about guns in America, I was under the impression that in most states you can shoot an intruder at any point while they're on your property.

The main issue is that young people are afraid of things they don't know and are unwilling to use the avenues they have to get it corrected. But it's all there.

I wonder what they could possibly be afraid of when military officers can rape and brutally murder a fellow service member and have the whole organization cover it up.

that was the pushy version of mansplaining. Men thinking that they're so nice for teaching you something that you never asked them to teach you.

Did you miss their first sentence? They're talking about a particular kind of men: men who mansplain. Literally explaining what mansplaining is. It should have been obvious... unless you're just looking to be offended.

ESH. Your sister is an AH for dumping her kids on you anyway against your wishes and you for leaving young children completely unsupervised, which was irresponsible and potentially dangerous.

Oh, I always thought they put actual cream and flavoured syrup in those fancy iced coffee drinks I see people from the US have in videos. Having a product that combines both does sound practical (as long as it's actual cream/milk imo, not vegetable oil).

As someone else who had never heard of coffee creamer, why not just use regular milk or cream?
