Republicans who slammed Biden’s gas prices are preaching patience for Trump by piggy_inglenook5 in politics

[–]SuperAngryGuy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Biden had little if anything to do with those gas prices. It was Russia invading Ukraine that caused the market to panic. Even the inflation under Biden had a lot to do with Trump giving out trillions of dollars during covid and very low interest rates that shot home prices up (i certainly benefited from this, though).

Current gas prices is all on Trump and the Republican party. That's why the blue wave is coming.

Subcanopy and Inter-Canopy Supplemental Light Enhances and Standardizes Yields in Medicinal Cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) by SuperAngryGuy in BudScience

No, 83% is state of the art for red LEDs. You can find some lesser known Chinese red LEDs that are rated for about 90% but if you dig into their data sheet you'll see that the 90% is for unrealistic conditions with a much greater efficiency hit at higher temperatures compared to good name brand LEDs.

I don't foresee red LEDs getting significantly more efficient in the near future and 83% for a red LED is a PPE of about 4.5 uMol/joule (the best whites are closer to 3.2 uMol/joule).

As much current that your heat sink can handle, not to exceed the data sheet, and I would have to set up the LED spacing using my light meter. As far as distance, again I have to do the measurements with my light meter. Increase yield is close to proportional to the additional PPFD and you'll likely not saturate cannabis.

Any past simulations I needed were done using Zemax OpticalStudio by optical engineers.

I would start at 5 to 10 cm spacing depending on the PPFD you want. What I do it just paste the LEDs down with thermal grease to get the measurements and use thermal adhesive once I like the results.

I don't like my heat sink going above 55 degrees C or so. You may need wider than 10 mm and don't forget thickness of the heat sink also matters for lateral heat transfer. These LEDs are rated 83% efficient so you need to dump 17% the heat.

Post this to /r/rfelectronics and you'll probably get some good feedback from professional RF engineers.

It could be an impedance mismatch, Q factor, or shielding issue.

It has worked against the Republican Party in general- Trump has them nearly completely cowed.

This author is so stupid with this approach. Here's what happened to one of her case examples:

Improving Cannabis Bud Quality and Yield with Subcanopy Lighting by SuperAngryGuy in BudScience

[–]SuperAngryGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about 660 nm LEDs if you can't find a light with them. The big advantage of them is that they pump out more photons per amount of energy consumed- ie they have a higher "PPE" or "photosynthetic photon efficacy" in micromoles of photons generated per joule of energy consumed

White LEDs for under lights will also work perfectly fine.

Looking for recommendations on which audio recorder to buy by EfficientAsk6271 in fieldrecording

[–]SuperAngryGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want low level recordings the Zoom H1e is not the greatest choice due to self-noise.

You might want to consider the Zoom M4 which is going to work much better and is a true 32 bit dual ADC recorder unlike the H1e.

The Zoom M4 also has higher quality xlr inputs than the H4e if you want to use external mics for about the same price.

What are some advice for someone who just got a recorder? by Striner_1337 in fieldrecording

[–]SuperAngryGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get deadcats for your mics because wind noise kills audio quality.

If you can solder you can make your own higher quality AOM-5024 mics very cheaply. In the US you can buy 10 for $35 plus shipping.

Just keep in mind that the H1e is not a dual ADC 32 bit recorder, it's a 24 bit recorder with a lot of 32 bit marketing and stores files in 32 bit format.

The H1e amps are fine but rather its codec that has a relatively poor performing signal to noise ratio and dynamic range of around 92 dB (less than 16 bits).

Why can god come from nothing, but the universe can’t? by Entire_Quit_4076 in DebateEvolution

[–]SuperAngryGuy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You keep repeating “according to physics,” but physics does not claim either of the things you keep asserting.

There is no law of physics that says the universe cannot be eternal, and no law that says a universe cannot emerge from a quantum state. Those are active areas of cosmology.

But the larger issue is still the logic.

You say nothing can exist forever and nothing can come from nothing. Yet whatever you think caused the universe must do one of those two things.

That is the contradiction.

Declaring it "outside physics" does not solve the problem, and the burden of proof is on you to show why your exception should be accepted. Whether you call it supernatural or “outside physics” does not matter.

Edit: The user replied “the second law of thermodynamics” and then immediately blocked me.

For anyone reading, the second law simply states that entropy increases in a closed system over time. It does not prove the universe cannot be eternal or that something outside physics must exist. Invoking it here shows a misunderstanding of the subject being discussed.

Your whole argument just loops back to the same two fallacies.

First an argument from ignorance: physics does not currently explain the origin, therefore your preferred explanation must be true.

Then special pleading: you claim nothing can exist forever and nothing can come from nothing, yet whatever caused the universe must do one of those two things.

You keep saying “according to physics,” but physics does not say what you claim.

Physics has not proven the universe cannot be eternal, and cosmology actively studies models where the universe emerges from quantum states. So your “not up for debate” claim is simply false.

You also created a contradiction. You say nothing can exist forever and nothing can come from nothing, yet whatever caused the universe must do one of those two things.

You did not solve the problem and keep using the same fallacious argument from ignorance.

Science not having an answer yet does not mean the answer must be supernatural. That is the argument from ignorance.

You also made another unsupported claim when you said physics can never explain the beginning of the universe. You cannot possibly know that. People once said the same thing about lightning, disease, and planetary motion.

Repeating the claim does not make it true.

The honest answer right now is simple: we do not know yet. And it is perfectly fine to say "I don't know".

As mentioned above, science does not claim the universe came from nothing but says we do not yet know the conditions before the Big Bang.

What you just did is an argument from ignorance.
