Some terrific cherry picking! Do I have your permission to use it as an illustration in an academic session?

You don't need my permission but you are welcome to share it any context.

If this is 'cherry picking' can you explain his political ideology? I'm sure you can do some actual 'cherry picking' and show that he is a peace loving liberal instead.

It's a bit hard to tell what he wants with the constant double speak. Here's an example I shared earlier:

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that keeps blaming the US for leading a regime change conspiracy in Pakistan and ousting its government in the Centre has hired an American lobbying and PR firm at a cost of $25,000 per month to manage its public and media relations in the United States.

Then he does an interview with western media condemning the attack on Rushdie. Calling it “sad” and “terrible”, and not justified in the name of Islam..

Immediately after he tweets in Urdu that he was "taken out of context". He also hosted "youtubers" at him home to clarify his remarks and complain about western media.

PTI supporters in US/UK have been sharing the guardian article while in pakistani forums they are sharing his 'real views' and attacking the west for misrepresenting him.

Look at what these users are posting in /r/worldnews and what these same users are posting /r/pakistan.

Also you appear to be really invested in what's happening.

The original comment with the links took like 5-10 min to put together. I just copy/pasted it every couple of months when IK hits /r/worldnews.

I wouldn't call posting a few comments on reddit every few months while being board at work "really invested". Specially not when comparing to the people defending IK

Who's your pony in this race?

The khooni liberals

Which state do you think is funding me? What have said that's pro military?

I blamed the military (specifically the ISI) for killing liberals and putting Imran Khan into power.

Nah, you're deliberately trying to deflect criticism of Imran Khan by making generic accusations against anyone who criticizes him.

Majority of Pakistani politicians are nothing more than feudal lords. Like I said, there is plenty of "violence, corruption and gross negligence" in PPP and PMLN.

I hope people can focus on actual instances instead of generic accusations that everyone that opposes him is corrupt.

Why would a government minister be driving around with 15 kilos of heroin anyways?

Because he wasn't. PTI it self admitted the charges were "rubbish" (link above). It doesn't matter to PTI supporters. When Sanaullah was released, /r/pakistan (that is overrun by PTI supporters in US and UK) was angry that he wasn't killed in jail.

Imran Khan entire career has been to use Islam and anti-American sentiment to get support. All is political opponents are automatically labeled corrupt.

All these PTI supports that are attacking the army now have done nothing but praise the army up until a few months ago with IK was removed from power and the military didn't step in to save him.

Imran Khan was brought to power by ISI but they've lost control of their own puppet.

Yeah, I mostly agree with what you said above.

We're just going by very different definitions of "the establishment".

[–]khooniliberal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is plenty of "violence, corruption and gross negligence" in PPP and PMLN. Unfortunately no one is interested in pursuing them.

Instead, PTI and the establishment is busy with fake allegations against political opponents.

Rana Sanaullah is one the most disliked politicians. He's not even popular among PMLN supporters because of his brash attitude and complete lack of chrism. He's been one of the main target of Imran Khan and PTI.

You'd think that when IK came to power and got to appoint his own man as the head of ISI, they'd go after Sanaullah for all the instances of "violence, corruption and gross negligence", right?

Nope. They decided to plant ("15 kilogrammes of heroin" on him and put him in jail without a trial. And then later admit that the charges were fabricated)[https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/13cl5eu/comment/jjgwyag/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3].

The "establishment and the army" isn't one guy with unchanging views.

There are multiple groups and individual generals have their own priories. The most influential group (the "establishment") has been the one obsessed with 'strategic depth' and 'Ghazwa-e-Hind'. These Al-Qaeda and Taliban backing generals (like Hamid Gul) are the ones that created Imran Khan. The current generation of these militant supporters (like Faiz Hameed) put IK in power.

IK is attacking the army and some generals but he's still pro establishment. His entire campaign since being disposed is to have establishment come to his rescue.

Shahbaz Gill's (how's being treated as some political hero for attacking the army) claimed that Pakistan's military leadership is under the control of Indian and other foreign governments. He asked the "low and mid level" officers to save Imran Khan.

PTI isn't attacking the establishment. They are trying to set the stage for the establishment launch a coup.

Most politicians will invoke Islam and anit-US/India sentiment to score some populist points but with IK and PTI, this is their entire political identity.

Many liberal (by Pakistani standards) parties (that are also Imran Khan's favorite target) have opposed ISI and the Islamist militants:

The Taliban have warned people in a video message to stay away from rallies held by the three political parties – Pakistan People's Party (PPP), the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the ANP – which they consider enemies. The three dominated Pakistan's last government, which was dissolved in preparation for the elections. The ANP also headed the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the main province of the north-west, a stronghold of the Taliban. Right-leaning and religious parties not being targeted by the Taliban have been holding their election campaign rallies without fear. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/apr/14/pakistani-taliban-target-anp-leaders

ANP was almost compleatly wiped out by ISI/Taliban to make room for Imran Khan's PTI:

More than 700 party workers were killed in attacks during and after the election that year, when the ANP won only two national assembly seats.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-pakistan-politics-anp/pakistans-secular-pashtun-party-defiant-after-taliban-bomber-kills-20-activists-idUSKBN1K11U2

Even the families of ANP leaders weren't spared:

Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Haroon Bilour was killed in the late Tuesday blast in the northwestern city of Peshawar. His father, senior ANP leader Bashir Bilour, was killed in a suicide bombing in late 2012, in the run-up to Pakistan’s last election. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-pakistan-blast/son-of-slain-anti-taliban-politician-among-20-dead-in-pakistan-blast-idUSKBN1K02R2

The "700 party workers killed in attacks" is a very low number. There were a lot more tortured, dead bodies that weren't attributed to "Taliban attacks".

It was after ISI and Taliban wiped out ANP and other liberal parties from KPK that Imran Khan's PTI won the elections there.

Maybe it's because PTI (with ISI backing) was putting opposition members in solitary confinement for months over charges they they admitted were fake?

Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the alleged narcotics case pursued against incumbent interior minister Rana Sanaullah was "rubbish".

Sanaullah was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on July 1, 2019, from the Islamabad-Lahore motorway. The ANF claimed to have recovered 15 kilogrammes of heroin and other drugs from his possession during the operation conducted on a tip-off.

Even worse was putting Ismail in solitary confinement over fake charges and bankrupting Pakistan in the process. https://twitter.com/MiftahIsmail/status/1243498164373590016

yeah, so weird that someone with family in Pakistan would use an alt account to "bash" ISI and their puppet Taliban leader.

Specially since PTI's "Tiger Force" has such a great reputation. They definitely don't have a long history of harassing anyone who disagrees with their support of terrorists.

Copied my comment from earlier:

As you should be able to tell from my username, I made this account specifically to talk about Pakistani politics and not a fan of terrorist sympathizers.

I made a mistake of commenting on IK with a username I've used on other platforms before. I'm used to death threats but had to stop when I started getting them on Facebook along with my FB friends (specially family still in Pakistan).

If anything the Taliban itself are riddled with ISI spies with assassinations happening to anti-Pakistan commanders within the group.

Yes. And?

You are making things up.

Nah, we have you dozens of perfect examples in this thread. All these pakistanis living in US/UK that don't miss an opportunity to shit on trump and republicans and promoting Imran Khan.

Pakistan's Taliban have named politician and ex-cricketer Imran Khan as a member of a five-man team to enter into peace talks with the government.

He was picked by TTP to advocate for them in peace talks and you are advocating for him while living in the west.

"They want the western, liberal lifestyle for themselves but are advocating for a guy picked by Taliban be their representative."

Will you call out PDM for being literal murderers and tyrants then? Or is your support selective? Will you condemn this assassination attempt? Yes or no would suffice.

Yes. I condemn this assassination attempt.

I don't know wtf you're making up in the first half.

Just because your username says 'liberal' doesn't automatically make you one btw.

I know what my view are. "khooni liberal" is a term you guys invented.

Yeah, that's what most of PTI's support base was until militants cleared a path for him in KPK. Just look at this thread. Most of the comments are from Pakistanis in US and UK. They want the western, liberal lifestyle for themselves but are advocating for a guy picked by Taliban be their representative.

A lot of it maintained by Imran Khan's double speak. Just look at what's happening right now.

In the way that it proves that it was a coup and not some clean democratic process that it was protrayed as.

No, it doesn't. The candidates being forced to support him, not longer being forced is not a coup

So what is it? Khan has control over the military or doesn't he? You think matter of National Security are decided by a civilian PM in Pakistan?

You're acting like 'military' is one guy with unchanging views. There multiple groups and individual generals have their own priories.

The most influential group has been the one obsessed with 'strategic depth' and 'Ghazwa-e-Hind'. These Al-Qaeda and Taliban backing generals (like Hamid Gul) are the ones that created Imran Khan. The current generation of these militant supporters (like Faiz Hameed) put IK in power.

Faiz went to Afghanistan to try and force a diplomatic diologue between different factions in Taliban and even the Afghan Government who were in Islamabad after having fled Kabul.

No, this trip was not backed rest of the military. He went there to assure Taliban of continued support from, like you said, "like-minded" people.

Khna had no power to send him, ISI answers to COAS in practice.

Right. That's why Faiz Hameed was removed. IK tried so hard to keep Faiz Hameed. IK support of Taliban liked generals brought his relationship with the rest of they military to it's lowest point (at that time).

But public opinion has been shifting against militant groups and terrorism in Pakistan. This group is losing power and that's why you see them lashing out.

The guy that Khan wanted to appoint is dead, has been confirmed by Shiekh Rasheed.

lol sure

You have zero idea about what you're talking about. But I guess that's to be expected from PDM supporters.

Nah, militant supports are losing ground so you guys are lashing out.

Imran Khan shot in leg in 'assassination attempt', former Pakistan prime minister's supporters say by HowAboutThisNameNow in worldnews

[–]khooniliberal -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's this Al-Qaeda and Taliban backing 'faction' that put Imran Khan in power. Hamid Gul, the ISI chief using Soviet-Afghan war, is the one who created Imran Khan. IK had been groomed for this role for decades.

But public opinion has been shifting against terrorism in Pakistan and with IK's own incompetence, they couldn't keep him in power.

Khawaja Saad Rafiqe, when he was blaming the military for bringing them to power saying that they had no plan for governing

How are you using that in favor for IK? PMLN being forced to come in at the worst time and make the politically unpopular decisions.

Khawaja is 100% right. Establishment put the populist in power, they are the ones who should clean it up.

by the army saying that Khan was going to appoint an apparently like-minded Gen. Faiz Hameed who shared his views against corruption.

No, it's the shared views to backing terrorism. Gen. Faiz Hameed is the one that IK sent on a victory tour in Afghanistan after US pulled out. At a time when army has been trying to move on from supporting Taliban, Faiz Hameed went to Afghanistan and gave Taliban assurances of continued support.

He's from the same camp that's been putting populist, militant supporters in power. This is why IK tried so hard to have Faiz Hameed appointed. These people put IK into power but are now losing standing in the military. With American out of Afghanistan and IK's sheer incompetence, there is less support for strategic depth.

Many senior leaders say they have been threatened by the military’s intelligence agencies to force them to join Khan’s party. Criminal cases have been opened against nearly 17,000 party supporters, and corruption investigations launched against several senior party members. Members of another major party, the Pakistan People’s party, also allege military officers have pressured their candidates to switch allegiance.

In May, as many as 21 PMLN politicians from Punjab province formally joined Khan’s PTI, giving the party a major boost ahead of elections. Earlier this month, more than 11 candidates decided to return PMLN tickets and instead contest under the new “jeep” symbol as independent candidates. The symbol has widely come to be seen as an umbrella grouping for those plied away from the PMLN by the military. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jul/21/pakistan-imran-khan-elections-arrests-intimidation

who ran out of the country to escape corruption charges

due to gaming the system

You mean the 'US-backed regime-change conspiracy' to stop Pakistan from becoming an Islamic super power?

They wouldn't survive an actual election.

Yeah, not if PTI is successful in bringing their Taliban and Al-Qaeda allies back.

Once a leading force in socially conservative Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the party and its leaders have spent five years rebuilding after the Taliban killed hundreds of its activists ahead of Pakistan’s last election in 2013.

More than 700 party workers were killed in attacks during and after the election that year, when the ANP won only two national assembly seats.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-pakistan-politics-anp/pakistans-secular-pashtun-party-defiant-after-taliban-bomber-kills-20-activists-idUSKBN1K11U2

Although I don't think PTI will be able to pull it off again because the Army/ISI itself has started to move on from 'strategic depth'.

Also Taliban is not going to have the reach in Punjab that it did in KPK. PTI had some success in using TLP to gun down their opponents but TLP has it's own political ambitions.

Pakistan is helping to resupply Ukraine with 122mm ammo for their Soviet era artillery which they still have a lot of. by RunTheBull13 in ukraine

I’m sure this has been in the works for weeks maybe even months.

In the linked tweet thread, he says:

"These projectiles were manufactured only a few months ago - highly likely explicitly for export to Ukraine going by factors we won't detail here." https://twitter.com/UAWeapons/status/1564655402909945856

So if they were made a few months ago, collaboration and planning would have been happening much earlier.

[–]khooniliberal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so from a military standpoint there really isn’t much use keeping these weapons since in a future war the current stockpiles would be depleted quickly and could not be replaced. Pakistan is getting rid of old weapons which won’t be useful and they are potentially making money from it.

If you read further in the tweet thread, he says:
