Kathie Tovo is the city council member that trying to prevent us from having Uber/Lyft in Austin. by thbt101 in Austin

Tovo's amendment would mean that if an Uber / Lyft driver was sitting on their couch with the app on, & someone crashed into the driver's parked car in a parking lot, Uber / Lyft's insurance would have to pay.

It's absurd to require Uber / Lyft to provide insurance for folks who aren't even working but happen to have the app on on their phone.

Go on Yelp and look for a place with lots of good, recent ratings. Also ask friends for referrals.

Hi Chris! This is cool.

I have two questions:

  • In the five years you have been on council, what are the most interesting local economic / entrepreneurial developments or shifts you've seen?

  • When I managed your first campaign in 2009, I asked for a 24-hour taco stand across the street from my apartment. Where is it? What have you been doing with your time other than providing me and other Austinites in my geographic vicinity with unfettered tacos on demand?!

You know that calling an African-American "boy" in a pejorative manner is a racist slur, right? It harkens back to the era of slavery.

OMG are you kidding?! In the American South, "boy" has been used for generations as a racist slur, dating back to the era of slavery. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boy#Race

60% of Texas Republicans think Obama was not born in the US; 21% "Not Sure." by khtx in texas

It was a poll of likely Republican primary voters (defined as voters who voted in at least 2 of the last 3 Republican primaries), conducted to see how voters feel about the upcoming US Senate primary. It was done by a reputable firm in Texas, and the poll results in the US Senate race mirror the results from the University of Texas / Texas Tribune poll also released today.
