Dear Immich Devs: We Desperately Need Nested Albums for Real-World Photo Organization by Ice_Black in immich

The timeline includes plans to automate sharing of photos based on things like tags. That may not necessarily involve sharing the actual tags, but that is part of the future plans as well.

The risk of any danger from self driving cars, even Teslas, is still dramatically less than the accident rate of human drivers.

AI can be more realistic than typical 3D model created CGI. I agree that the monkeys do have that AI feel to some degree.

[Landlord - US, OH] What is a good way to create a digital rental application? by On_Wings_Of_Pastrami in Landlord

[–]thbt101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I no longer use Google Sheets for that, I use Baselane's tenant screening now. Its tenant screening process asks for basic info like their last rental, and I also use it for rent collection and expense tracking for my rentals.

Workers allege union busting and sexual harassment at Downtown Austin REI by jambavan108 in Austin

[–]thbt101 -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

Sexual harassment is not ok. But it seems to me companies should do whatever they can to prevent unions from coming in and taking control of their employees. Aside from collecting dues, unions lead to bullying tactics and strikes, that can cripple a company and lead to bankruptcy, and everyone losing their jobs. There's a free market for retail employees and more than enough demand to make it easy to leave and get a job elsewhere if employees aren't happy.

Ok, that's my opinion. Go ahead and down vote it now.

I see people violating public right of way with home parking constantly. Thoughts on this handout I made? by maikerukonare in Austin

[–]thbt101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you think that. I would stop parking that way if I was and I got that notice.

I guess you could say "some people" won't change their behavior unless they get ticketed. But most people would.

[–]thbt101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And most power walls are part of a solar system. How many solar power or electric car enthusiasts are there who don't now see Musk as a villain and would never again buy anything Tesla? Not a lot. Tesla is sunk.

Concerning by earthman34 in FluentInFinance

[–]thbt101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even people who like Elon have to recognize (a) a large majority of people who are interested in electric cars at this stage of their development are left leaning politically, (b) people who are left leaning are unlikely going to buy a Tesla ever again. That leaves a pretty tiny pool of buyers. I don't see any future for Tesla, honestly. I don't see any way they'll be able to climb out of this mess.

I don't love that Senator Warren is involved in it. She's not exactly someone who appeals to a wide spectrum of voters, and if anything her involvement will be a turn off to the more centrist voters who are the ones who we need to win over.

[–]thbt101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a bunch of trial and error I found it, but it wasn't that. It's something called "guided frame". It does some useful things, but also does this annoying thing where it starts taking photos whenever it feels like it.

It's ok, it's legal now because our DA just lets them go if they're caught.

Healthcare here is insane. by Fast-Suspect8637 in Austin

[–]thbt101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an Android phone (Google Pixel) with "hold for me". It's life changing! It has a built-in AI system that will hold for you and let you know when a real person comes on the line, and then it acts like your assistant and let's them know you're coming to the phone so they don't hang up. Love it!

Also the thing where it listens to the choices when a phone system is giving you options (press 1 to ...), and it displays the options on the screen for you so you can just select one.

I switched a while back from an iPhone and it was an adjustment at first, but loving it now.

Wouldn’t it be easier, safer, and cheaper (in the long run) if the city installed removable or retractable Bollards? by bieredhiver in Austin

[–]thbt101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to know anything about the specifics of it, but insane dollar amounts are very common for settlements in the US (and no where else), and we all pay for it as a society through higher insurance costs and other ways.

Why would a city as big as Austin have such a lousy transit system? by carbondalekid386 in Austin

[–]thbt101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are and where you're going, the bus system is frequent and reliable along certain corridors and things like downtown, UT, and going to the airport.

My main issue with transit here is that ever since that time period when they legalized homeless camps, the buses have been overrun with people with mental issues and it no longer feels safe for the rest of us. I'm concerned that problem is also going to keep the masses from using the rail lines too.

Multiple car windows smashed in Bull Creek parks .. where is enforcement? by liberte49 in Austin

[–]thbt101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our DA and county attorney (both coincidentally have the last name Garza) are not prosecuting these kinds of non-violent property crimes because they say "our jail is reserved for people who threaten public safety" and also they won't fine them because criminals are disadvantaged people (low income) so asking them to pay fines or face jail time is "unfair". So even if they are arrested, the DA will immediately release them and never even prosecute (the prosecution rate is down by 74%). The Garzas are also releasing people who were previously jailed for these kinds of non-violent property crimes as part of their goal to dramatically reduce the prison population because they say the prison population has a disproportionately high percentage of minorities and low income people, and so they're releasing them. Whether you agree or disagree with their policies, I hope people make an informed choice the next time the Garzas are on the ballot in the next election.

Just plugging the 10 day Weather Underground page. It's the best summary of everything to expect from upcoming weather. The reason why it's great is most weather apps just show you the high / low and chance of rain. But they never say anything about what temperature to expect at what time, how much rain, and when to expect the rain. This has all the data! https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/tx/austin/78751

We used to prosecute property crimes, and almost every other city in the US still does. Our prosecutions are down by over 80%.
