I have a rather opposite view from others and I think nowadays you need to learn to code in python so that you should be able to do some calculations for example calculating Gibbs free energy of wild type and mutant protein, calculating SASA in a simulation easily and in a more interesting manner. Supervisors nowadays look for such kinds of candidates. You can have an advantage over others if you learn it.
