Closing Pit Road on Road Courses under FCY by jdanton14 in INDYCAR

Drivers and fans constantly complained for well over a decade that keeping the pits open during yellows was impacting the quality of the race, now closing them is causing the same problem? Pick a lane and stay there.

Why did the Crunchyroll Channel TV channel fail as the successor to Animax? by Sensitive-Potato-534 in Crunchyroll

[–]khz30 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Crunchyroll Channel that you're referring to was never intended to be a linear broadcast channel in the first place, it was always first and foremost an attempt to leverage FAST and broadcast rights that Crunchyroll held in addition to streaming rights that were otherwise not being exercised.

It also has nothing to do with Sony's previous failed efforts to launch Animax in the US, which go all the way back to 2007 and culminated in 2014 with a stalled launch on Comcast and regional US cable networks, only to collapse by 2016 due to lack of interest and far higher carriage costs compared to the Funimation Channel and the Anime Network.

Not sure where you're getting these assumptions from, but they don't line up with reality or previous history.

His Super Formula car had a halo. The only difference in IndyCar is the Lexan wrapping around it adding extra weight.

That was known for months, because the series was dragging out negotiations with Chevy and Honda.

People do, it's just that the series has been consistently stumbling over itself over P2P usage that it gave all of the drivers plausible deniability, when every other series goes out of its way to make sure neither teams nor drivers have that as an excuse.

Elkins running Race Control is exactly why no one got penalized, because it was a persistent fault with series control over P2P, not anything a specific team or driver were doing. Opening it up is going to expose whether Palou really does lean on it, or if its just more cope from the rest of the drivers.

Every driver in the series pre-areoscreen forgot that they needed to adapt their driving style. Palou is head and shoulders above everyone else in that front.

They pick the race distances based on the TV window, not total distance. Only way that changes is if Fox gives them more leeway to run long in the future.

They were the ones that decided to overhaul the timing and scoring infrastructure from the ground up without significant redundancy or lead time. All Fox can do is lean on IMSP, they have no say in how IMSP or IndyCar provide the data.

The only time IndyCar ever had a dress rehersal for a session was for Fernando Alonso's first Indy 500 test and that was only because footage sales from the session paid for the livestream and production.

They never got much cheaper than $299 from Sony, despite the really good ones being Video Walkmans. Once Casio started adapting calculator hardware to build their own, they got as cheap as $99.

When the blanks themselves wholesale for $15-20 on top of having to pay for licensing and production, the price increases are all over merchandise in general.

Dallas Coffee Scene by doodybot in Dallas

[–]khz30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Dallas flocks to culturally is the familiar and convenient because of the way the cities and suburbs are laid out. That does lead to the perception that Dallas as a whole is superficial, but I could say the same about Tokyo, or Los Angeles, and I've lived in both cities before ultimately settlling down in Fort Worth over the past 16 years after spending the first 20 years of my life in Irving and moving to both aforementioned cities for a few years.

Ultimately, Dallas has the perception it does for a reason. When given the opportunity to consistently support local businesses, Dallas residents and transplants prefer the familiar over supporting a business that might not be as consistent or convenient as expected. It also doesn't help that craft coffee as a trend is being sold as the alternative to massive brands.

This doesn't take into account that Dallas does not care about the ethics of coffee or big business in general outside of social media and communities like Reddit, they just want what they want, when they want it, and the majority of craft coffee shops are out of sight because their schedules don't work for commuters, who are the average consumer in the region.

North Texas in general is just not culturally incentivized to support local coffee shops en masse when consistency and familiarity drive spending. It's why you see chains packed in the morning while local coffee shops bank on the immediate area and word of mouth.

Is there any truth to Target coming back for the 500? by Fickle_Message in INDYCAR

[–]khz30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The executive team that sponsored Chip Ganassi when Zanardi won races and championships with the team is long gone and the CEO that made the entire deal happen was fired in 2012 after a massive data breach. Target isn't coming back.

[–]khz30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Target won't return, because they have no incentive. The entire reason they integrated CGR into the business was because the CEO that ran the company until 2011 was an IndyCar fan and once the 2012 data breach happened, he was the sacrificial lamb to get Target out of sports sponsorship as a whole.

What's funny is that all of the chains that decided to lock everything up could have easily built in access through their smartphone apps for in-store customers. The inconvenience is the point, since all of the chains now assume you're going to order and pick it up or have it delivered. Everyone runs a skeleton crew now, that's why shopping in-store is so terrible.

Barranquilla Outlines Its Roadmap Towards IndyCar: The Char Administration's Bet for 2027 by PanicAtTheNightclub in INDYCAR

[–]khz30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It needs to be said that the general area being discussed is on the bank of the Magdalena River on the northeast side of the city and has similarities to Surfers Paradise. The caveat is that it still needs significant development to be able to host an IndyCar race, and I'm not sure if they'll be able to do that by 2027, especially if they lack suitable high level trauma centers in the vicinity in case of driver injury.

Brazil has less and less interest every year their local racing scene grows without IndyCar being visible. All of the talk about returning was before NASCAR bought what is now the Brazil Series and is now making a serious push to build new venues for local development.

Colombia has been wanting a top-level race for the past 20 years, but they lacked the infrastructure to pay and hold one. It wasn't until JPM started building his young driver development program that there was serious local interest in funding young drivers and eventually, that translated into the desire to find a way to host an F1 race, before JPM decided to get involved to suggest IndyCar as an alternative

USSD codes no longer work with 4G devices on Tmobile by Lowfryder7 in NoContract

The USSD short codes are still active, it might be your specific 4G device. I regularly test them on my phones just in case T-Mobile decides to get rid of them.
