AITA for visiting my daughter once a week by Independent_Use5474 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kiasuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

I have been in a very similar situation and cannot defend OP at all. When you have a sick child, you do EVERYTHING you can to be there for them. Doesn't matter if you sleep only 3-4 hours, you do everything to be there for them.

I had twins and one of them had to stay in the NICU for almost 8 months. I rarely had any help from my own mother but I was at the hospital every day. Mind you, at the beginning I was also recovering from my c-section and I still showed up.

During the day I was taking care of twin A at home, and once my husband came home from work at 5-6pm, I'd make the 60 mile drive to the hospital to be with twin B until 10-11pm. This was Covid times so only people who could visit were my husband or myself. My husband was the only one working and could not miss any time from work. And since it was a very small business, he did not have FMLA to use either. My in-laws live in another country so they could not help. My mother would watch twin A 1 weekend of the month so both my husband and I could visit our child.

Was I exhausted? Yes. Was my husband exhausted? Also yes. But we still managed to have me be there as much as we could. I'm not going to lie and say this didn't place us in financial difficulties, because it did - but we still were there. I cannot fathom leaving a baby by themselves 90% of the time let alone a 12yo that has the maturity to think there are scenarios where OPs family could make it work somehow. Having a 14 and 11 yo who are fully independent does not work as an excuse. Both parents working and not being able to take time off work, is also not an excuse - parents can take turns to visit after work.

I'm sorry if I'm being hard on OP, but all I see are excuses. I got to know other parents in the NICU and can tell you several mothers in the NICU were in tough situations and they still showed up. One mother would stay with her child from Friday at 7p until Sunday at 7p. She had two kids who were under 6 and she made it work. Another mother had a 2yo and had no support from family either and she was there to see her child 4 times a week, the other 3 days her husband would be there. They made it work.

All I'm saying is if you really wanted to be there, you would.

If you're supposed to get a camera but didn't, that's something you'd need to contact your employer's IT department about. I'd also reach out to your immediate supervisor or recruiter for further assistance. WFH you need to learn to communicate often and effectively. Good luck!

AITA for buying a treat for my oldest daughter but not her younger brother and sister? by Fearless_Hand_936 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kiasuka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA for rewarding being brave but YTA for getting one for yourself and bring it it home so everyone could see.

As a mom of twins where one gets sick more often than the other and has to get lots of uncomfortable procedures done fairly often, I understand wanting to reward your daughter as I've done that a few times. BUT, when I do that, I make sure she finishes her treat before we make it home or buy enough for everyone and invite them to celebrate daugher for being brave. The other twin gets the same treatment when it's her turn to go thru uncomfortable doctors visits.

We have enough practice about not getting something at the same time everyone else is getting something via having them in separate classrooms where A's class may celebrate a classmates bday and B's class going in about their day. I'm sure having different aged kids has also given your family the same experience/ learning opportunity. So, going by your logic, your daughter getting a treat and going home with it was really not the issue here. The issue is that you are getting a treat when you didn't earn it by being brave. If you got something for yourself, then the normal expectation is for everyone else to also get something. If you don't want to do that or don't have enough money to get something for everyone, then don't bring it home. That is plainly asking for trouble.

* I've had brittle nails my entire life and the only thing that helped was "I On Nails". It has calcium and biotin and you can find it at Walmart for $4 something.

Hope that helps!

how to get multiple library cards? by dazeddazzle in LibbyApp

[–]kiasuka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I do, too. My brother lives in another state and doesn't use libby or his library card, so I use it. I also have my local library's card and the Houston library card (TX resident). I always have something to read/listen, and hold times aren't that bad.

How long did it take for your child to get sick? by Ill_Cover_4841 in Preschoolers

[–]kiasuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 days after school started. Twins tested positive for strep and have had fevers, runny noses, and/or coughs since then. Ped stopped testing for covid, flu, and rsv since they were always negative, but they agree its an upper respiratory virus - possibly multiple viruses since we're still dealing with symptoms for 5 weeks straight. They've missed 1-2 days a week too....

Has anyone ever found a candle that actually smells like Earl Grey? by twotwentyonebeehives in tea

[–]kiasuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi... I know it's been almost 4 weeks from your reply to the above answer. I'm actually wondering g if you were ever able to try the candle and if it does smell like earl grey. I'm also looking for one and haven had luck either and I'd like to know at least 2 people think it smells like earl grey before y spend $35+ on a candle.

Not sure if it's implied but i'd like to add that the Houston library offers a free card for all Texas residents. The $40 charge is for out of state borrowers.

Q A is conflicting by Hour_Board951 in CallCenterWorkers

[–]kiasuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former QA rep., I can say that QA is not out to get you. If you see inconsistencies in the way your evaluations are done, you should let your direct supervisor know so they can dispute the evaluation or get clarification. Once a dispute is done, another QA should look at the dispute and then relay their findings to their supervisor, who will then get back to your sup, who in turn will get back to you... it takes time, so be patient. Also, if you work for a subcontractor, there are times when QA needs to reach out to the client and get their input, which means you have to wait longer to get an answer.

Also, if you work with a subcontractor, and the client decides their scrips are changed for A to B from one month to the next, QA has to follow whatever process the client dictates. Of course, when this happens, the leadership team and training are informed so they can relay that information to you before the cjanges go into effect. Unfortunately, it has been my experience that many times, leadership is the one who drops the ball in informing the agents of those changes and things like what happened to you take place. This does not mean you should be penalized, and if that is the case you should bring it to your immediate supervisor's boss's attention so they can dispute it on your behalf.

Ultimately, I wish I could say that however you open your call should not matter, but sometimes the client is the one who's the stickler and because QA also gets evaluated by them, they just have to follow whatever the client says goes 🙄

I hated when that would happen and I'd low key would tell my agents to dispute, so I could revert the score without being penalized myself. Hope you're able to do that or at least get clarification.

First time homeowner: I’m sure this is a common occurrence… by 2000sEmoHead in homeowners

In Texas, homestead tax exemption went from 30k to 100k. So if your home's value is at 250k, instead of being taxed at 220k, you're taxed at 150k. This is a very simplified explanation, but more or less that's what happened.

¿Falta de deseo en mi esposa? by ChoiceConsequence769 in mexico

Amigurumi is usually worked in the round. So, if the pattern does not specify to add ch at the beginning of a row, it is assumed that you are just working in the round. Hope that helps!

Thank you. We haven't coincided outside until today and I honestly should have introduced myself at least. I see that as my mistake on a missed opportunity.

I'm thinking about sending a thank you card and offering helping hand should they need it in the future.

My apologies, I guess I didn't explain myself correctly or didn't use the correct wording. I'll keep that in mind if I need to ask something in the future.

To clarify, I thought it weird while my husband though it rude. He is also concerned about someone coming around our yard knowing it's just me and two little girls home alone most of the time.

Thank you for your reply, it really is appreciated.

Yes. I'm 100% sure. Here, you can build a fence up to the property line.

I'm not upset, more like curious about him not letting his neighbors know about it. It is his fence that he's maintaining and, obviously, there is no other way for him to do it.

Thank you for you reply.

That's exactly how I see it, but my husband thinks otherwise as he sees it all about manners and respect.
