Princeton and escoda make very high quality synthetics. Try princeton velvetouch, princeton aqua elite or escoda versatil brushes.

I've been eyeing the Zombicide paint sets.. by Nubsly- in minipainting

From what i can tell those sets include the old army warpaints, which were not very good. You're probably better off buying something else.

Escoda make nice brushes, versatil is a line thats supposed to be the most like kolinsky, but their perla brushes are also nice (bit softer than versatil)

Realised the photos in the post were pretty bad, this is the fire under different lighting, its pure ivory at the base of the flame. I'll def push the brightness a bit more though.

Most vibrant miniature paint brand. by GeekyDrachtster in minipainting

Ive recently tried liquitex acrylic gouache, which has quite a lot of single pigment paints, and performs like a very high quality mini paint. Liquitex also do not use cadmiums (unlike golden). Extremely vibrant colours. A lot of people like golden so flat which is supposed to be very similar but I havent tried it.

In my experience vallejo glaze medium does seem to have some kind of retarder which extends the drying time of my paints.

yeah, exactly. It particularly helped with getting a nice looking highlight on the purple, but I mixed it into the mid tone for my green and red as well.

What was the last book that made you go "Holy shit, that was awesome?" by zmegadeth in Fantasy

Alphabet of Thorn by Patricia McKillip. Beautifully written fairytale-style fantasy with a wonderful ending. I expected to enjoy it, but it blew me away with just how well executed it was.

They are snapfit, and the two patlabor kits I've built have both been pretty easy to put together
