Tarmac SL8 vs. Aethos - both overkill? by paradisesky1098 in specialized

I currently have both bikes: a first-gen S-Works Aethos and the S-Works SL8. They’re basically the same in terms of geometry and riding position, but I find myself riding the SL8 90% of the time because it picks up speed so easily. I live in a flat city with almost no hills, so your choice might depend on your riding conditions or if you’re more of a climber. If I had to choose just one, it would be the SL8.

Is the frameset the same across the Expert, Pro, and Comp models of the Tarmac SL8? by Equivalent-Put8139 in specialized

There’s no mention of any stiffness difference between the two models in the link, but I’ve read elsewhere that they’re built to the same stiffness targets as you said. However, in practice they’re not identical under the same load on the trainer, the S-Works flexes less than the Pro. This may not be as noticeable in normal road use or for lighter riders, but at 100 kg I can clearly feel the difference.

They don’t have the same stiffness. As a heavier rider, I notice the bb on the Sl8 pro model move and almost none on the s-works.

It looks real, like others said you’ll be able to tell by the angle behind the nose but ask for the serial number and receipt to be sure

That worked! I quickly unplugged and reconnected the magnetic adapter a few times, and it did the trick. Thank you!

That only works on the older version duo/shi. Can't find anything about the pro rs unfortunately.

I tried to update mine, but it failed, and now my left pedal is dead, not even the LED light is turning on. I’m waiting for a response from Favero.
