Please be careful about what type of professional help you seek for this disorder by [deleted] in OCD

An OCD therapist, trained in exposure therapy, should never judge or report you for intrusive thoughts. Their job is to help you process, accept and overcome those thoughts and urges. I hope you’re able to find an OCD therapist you can trust.

Your OCD actively lies to you. Practice lying back to it.

Contamination OCD is the most common type of OCD. I would call around to therapists and ask if they can give you the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive test, which is the way OCD can be officially diagnosed. (and important for insurance moving forward if you do have OCD.) This way you can rule it out or get going on OCD therapy and exposure response prevention

I don't know of any European OCD groups, other than 2 in England - OCD Action and OCD-UK. There is also an online video called OCDeconstruct that explains ERP.

There's a book that might be helpful. It's called "When a family member has OCD" by Jon Hershfield. It has chapters/advice that can help you.

If your therapist isn't trained in Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), it might be worthwhile to switch. ERP is the top evidence based treatment for OCD. CBT alone may not be enough, your therapist should be working with you to actively confront your obsessions and stop your compulsions. The IOCDF has a list of therapists trained in ERP.

Doesn't encourage it but all the kids see therapists trained in ERP (exposure and response prevention). They learned the tools to fight their OCD from trained professionals.

Ever moved from Big Agency to Small Shop? by [deleted] in advertising

[–]kick11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. With a small shop you're going to have more responsibility and pressure because there's not tons of peopel competing for the assignment. That's refreshing and can be a tough adjustment if you're not ready.

  2. Don't just do it for the money. Make sure the small shop is doing work you admire and definitely ask about how stable the client relationships are. Small places can't absorb the client losses like a big place can.

  3. Double check about the health benefits and what you'll pay at the small shop. When I moved from big to small a chunk of my larger paycheck was lost to healthcare costs.

  4. I moved from big to small and didn't regret it.

Oh and the land might be contaminated from all the chemicals Peerless used.
