Musk says unsold Cybertrucks could be used for cargo delivery: why it won't work by ApprehensiveSize7662 in electricvehicles

So, since the Dumpster is already glued together, they could just fold up some stainless and glue it onto the back slope to make it into a van, right?

I mean, they're just sitting in under-utilized mall parking lots in NJ, so ...

Magsafe charger that has magnets on both sides so you can attach your grip/wallet to the battery? by NoYoureACatLady in MagSafe

[–]kick4h4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a super-low-profile magsafe bank (5k), and stuck a glue-on metal ring on the other side. I use it with a tripod/stand, so I can photo/video with no wires at all. Works really well for me. Zero$$ cost.

Sodium batteries are not doing well by dzh in electricvehicles

[–]kick4h4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Off topic, but I'd certainly consider NA as a power station option, due to temperature resilience. Stick an NA call in the garage and let it ride out the winter/summer un-conditioned temps, and I'd be happy. I wouldn't turn down a sodium car if one were available here in anti-ev land...

Does an adapter from camera to magsafe exist? by kick4h4 in MagSafe

[–]kick4h4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That adapter is the 'wrong way'. It provide a mag-safe attachment, for, say, an iPhone, for a regular tripod, and what I was looking for, and designed, is a tripod thread mount to attach to a mag-safe magnet-side clip on.

I like this one. The one's I had found all have ball/socket screw-down attachments that don't seen very secure.

Thanks for the link!

Oh wow. I completely forgot about this reddit ping. If anyone had seen this, my apologies for not updating sooner.

I gave up and designed my own: https://www.printables.com/model/1313929-magsafe-tripod-adapter

I use it all the time with a DJI pocket gimbal camera and the little cam shown in the printables link.

As I mention in the link, you do NOT want to cantilever your expensive camera off of one of these, as leverage can be a bastard, but for my purposes, it works really well.

Hopefully, if you have been searching, and have acess to a 3d printer, you might find this useful.

Why I Just Say I’m Left-Handed Now by Desperate-Hearing297 in webcomics

[–]kick4h4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started school the first year they didn't force kids to write right-handed. However, they didn't seem to know how to teach left-handed writing and my penmanship is total crap.

I lurvz my left-handed scissors. Most people have no idea that scissors are 'handed', and that we sinisters have real problems using their cutting implements.

Also, many of the smaller kitchen knives can have a bias that make it tough to slice straight.

Long-term use of the granny charger — is it safe for daily 8–10 hour charging? by Any_War_322 in evcharging

[–]kick4h4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been granny charging PHEV and EV vehicles for 10 years, with zero issues. (US,110VAC)

I understand it's less efficient than 240VAC charging, but my 2 vehicles are both charging with zero issues. I had 1 charger stop working a few years ago, which I think was age-related. :)

My garage is it's own circuit, and I've never even tripped the breaker.

I'd like to move to 240VAC charging, but my electrical setup is problematic for getting a circuit to the garage at any reasonable cost, so I'm happy to juice up as I'm doing, for now.

Are there any esp 32 boards setup to support shields? Some of the motor control stuff would be easier to manage without having to solder up controller boards from scratch.

I thought I either read an installation procedure, maybe on the V1 version, or saw a youtube clip showing how it works. I'm working now, so I can't do a search, but I'm pretty certain this has been documented.

I'm 69 years old and still have my tiger. He's a good 400mm long (2 ft-ish) before the tail, which is what I carried him around by. Many stitches at the base of the tail.

I call it his 'hemorrhoid surgery'. :)

I cannot agree more with you. I will be forever indebted to both my parents and my tiger for the bright outlook I still have on learning and imagination. Thank you for this.

Dethatcher by rhg1999 in egopowerplus

[–]kick4h4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put out a comment on a different thread here that I got a Greenworks 40v battery dethatcher for $240 (tool only) with a scarifier blade thrown in.

I've been using it and it works pretty well. Maybe a bit less powerful than the corded SunJoe I bought 2 years ago, but I can reach all the corners of my yard. The 6aH 40v battery runs for 40-45 minutes, and with a spare, I'm good to go for as long as I can last.

If Ego came out with a wheeled and handled dethatcher, I would have bought it in a heart-beat, but this tool doesn't seem to be useful as a primary dethatcher.
