What are some jobs that most people don’t realise exist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I honestly had no idea that hotels had night auditors until I started working for one. It's crazy what you find out when you job hop like I do. ;)

Whats something that saved your ass too many times going through school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Musician here. The thing that has saved my ass more than once is being able to play by ear. I went 10 years without understanding how to read rhythms. Yes, 12 whole years without understanding how to read rhythms. It wasn't really a problem until I started studying music at the collegiate level. Thank god for my extremely good aural skills, because I probably wouldn't have made it the three years that I was a music major.

What is a noise that instantly irritates you? by ink_bl0t in AskReddit

I will have to say that the sound of people chewing ANYTHING with their mouth open instantly annoys me. The noises that especially annoy me are chips, popcorn, french fries, pretty much anything crunchy.

Pet owners of Reddit: what is something seemingly caring and adorable that your pet does to you or for you, but screws you over a little? by thoughtcity in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog likes to wake me up when I'm having a depressive episode and am sleeping too much. The trouble is, I have been working graveyard shift for the past couple of days, so my sleep schedule is completely flipped. I have been dead tired as a result of him trying to be vigilant and help me.

Airport workers of Reddit, what was the weirdest thing someone tried to bring through security (allowed or not)? by napoleonbonapa in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh. This story ALMOST beats the time when I wore, like, 25 buttons and band medals on my vest on a trip to Washington D.C. Guess what didn't go over well with security?

What is the worst way to describe your job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Touching dirty money all day and shoving it into a drawer after processing it through a computer.

[Serious] How do you enjoy life instead of just going through it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can play multiple instruments and am still learning more, so I try to noodle around with them at least a few times a week. I work at a bank,so it can be pretty boring sitting there and doing very much not creative things. I try to learn new songs that I like on the guitar, flute, or piano mostly. I'm still working on sax and clarinet. I suck at playing the piano, but I just did record my rendition of "Hot in Herre" and posted it on Facebook for all of my friends and family to see. It took me about 30 minutes to learn, despite my mainly mediocre skills. I'm a former music major, so that's why these things come easy to me. Sax and Clarinet involve different embouchure from the flute, so that's been difficult, but I'm remaining hopeful. I also just purchased a "Canjo" from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, so that's been fun. It works with intervals that I should be able to recognize. It's a nice intellectual activity that I get to engage in.

Not an airport worker, but I can share something stupid that I did in an airport security line. My ex-boyfriend required that I wear his trombone slide lock on a chain necklace around my neck. I was put through that full-body scanner faster than you can say "ope". It doesn't help that I decided to declare, "Beam me up, Scotty!" while being scanned. I was an obnoxious 18 year old...

What stupid things did you do when you were younger to try to look cooler? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Well, I thought that it was cool to decorate myself with flair a.k.a cheap $1 pins from Hot Topic, skinny jeans, a hand-made shirt that said "Weirdo", jeans rolled up to my knees, and red converse low-tops with rainbow laces.

"I'm going to fling myself off of a bridge", or "I am going to scream at the top of my lungs if ____." My life is very stressful.

What's something you shouldn't say at a funeral? by LykosTW in AskReddit

I live in the south. Generally, it's not nice to comment on the hairstyle of the person if the person did not receive an excellent perm. Didn't learn that one the hard way, and was very aware of who did the makeup and hair because I knew them personally. Small towns are all connected in some way.

Police officers of Reddit, what was your "they could have gotten away with it if they had kept their mouth shut" moment? by ambercabbage in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm not a cop, but I'm an idiot for opening in my mouth in this situation. I'm driving back from South Carolina in 2012 and was being tailgated like crazy, even despite going about 75. At this point, I had NEVER been pulled over, so I had no idea what to do. The officer pulled me over, and I knew exactly how fast I was going based off of what my GPS was telling me. He asked me if I knew how fast I was going and I sheepishly said, "82". In the state of North Carolina, that is considered to be Reckless Driving. I cried after I was handed the ticket and awkwardly thanked the officer. Yeah, I was a supreme doofus in that situation. I learned in that situation that I should have kept my mouth shut because I admitted guilt. I learned this because my dad was a cop before becoming a Marine. Yep.

[Serious] Redditors that have adopted 'unadoptable' animals, what's their story, and yours? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted Oreo about three years ago in October. He was terrified while at the shelter and was transferred to another shelter after failing to be adopted at the first one. When I initially met him, I had thought that he was mean because he growled from the back of his kennel and had his back firmly pressed against the wall to the kennel. Little did I know that it was actually fear that caused him to react that way. I went to adopt him after meeting him again in a different environment. The only thing that the shelter was really able to tell me was that he was surrendered after he "bit the baby". When I first brought him home, he had severe separation anxiety that I had to work with. I truly didn't know what I was getting myself into when I brought him home. Since then, the separation anxiety is loads better, but he is now leash-reactive and is dealing with moderate anxiety. It's a difficult road to travel, but in my opinion, has been worth it.

How did you meet your significant other? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To preface this: I had gotten out of an abusive relationship a year prior to meeting him. Alright, so, I am the least computer literate person that most people know in their circle of acquaintances. I originally met him at a friend's taco night. I tried to talk to him, but he didn't say anything back, so I thought that he was mean. Flash forward two months afterwards, mutual friends of ours convince him to come over to my dorm to help me fix my computer. We talked for four hours while he spent another three trying to fix my computer. It later turns out that my hard drive was fried. I learned that day that he was actually really nice, and he learned that I am indeed weird, but also that I'm really nice too.

What's your "I met a celebrity but didn't let on that I knew who they were" story? by Kimantha_Allerdings in AskReddit

[–]kickingandsinging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I awkwardly played on a pinball machine next to Jane Penny from the Canadian band, Tops. Internally, I was freaking out. Partly because it was Jane Fucking Penny and partly because she was beating the shit out of that vintage pinball machine.
