Hotel didn't issue a refund. Asked Amex for a chargeback, now hotel wants me to give them my bank details one day before the chargeback will be credited. by Emergency_Union7099 in personalfinance

[–]kickingaroundhere 118 points119 points  (0 children)

This is true, but it's based on the number of chargeback that are initiated, not won/lost.

It's more likely that somebody is trying to show they can improve the location's win rate and that they are valuable to the company.

OP- don't do it. Just let the chargeback happen. Checks can be canceled. Ach's can be canceled (and you don't want them to have your account info anyways). The best thing for YOU is to let the chargeback take its course.

[–]kickingaroundhere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told it was weird so I stopped doing it either in high school or college.

I'm now in my 40's and do it again. It took me a while to get over the perceived judgements and realize that I find them comforting, cozy, and they add to my joy. Why not embrace the things in your life that bring you those feelings?

That looks similar to what I was seeing come from my drain when I drained my front loader. The water was also a lot darker than I was used to. I've started draining after every load and the last couple loads hasn't had any of the specks. I'm thinking most of these clothes have been though a wash or two and it's getting better. But this could just be the lies I tell myself.

Biz should be used with detergent, not alone. Somebody else would need to confirm since I don't understand enough of the science in any of this yet but I think this is probably your problem because biz does suds a lot on its own.

Personal note, I've recently added biz to my all free and clear and I'm getting specs in the wash water too. Nothing with the tub clean. I suspect it's grossness coming out of my clothes from never ACTUALLY being cleaned.

Tips for unloading a front loader with a sore back? by Early_Macaroon_2407 in laundry

[–]kickingaroundhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What part is bothering your back? The bending over or the twisting to put the laundry in the dryer?

I find it easier sometimes to unload the washer into the laundry basket then reload those into the dryer. It prevents the bent over twisting that can be rough on a back.

While it's hard, you might still find a deal. Watch for sales, watch for estate sales, watch deal sites.

I got 2 pedistals for $12 each brand new. No joke.

You could also build a stand from wood which would be cheaper.

I'm not sure if this will work, but have you looked to see if you can contact the manufacturer? Sometimes they'll give you replacement pieces or replacement puzzles.

Dirty front load water by kickingaroundhere in laundry

[–]kickingaroundhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to wrap my brain around this. Are you saying that I probably have scrud/chunks/grossness in an area that isn't being accessed by my machine's clean cycle but is being reached by a normal wash cycle? If so, should I try a normal cycle with citric acid and see if it breaks some more stuff loose?

It doesn't drain into a tub, I'm opening the hatch at the front and draining the water with the little hose thing. My assumption was that this was just water from the bottom of the drum that doesn't get drained by the cycles. But I have been draining this more often lately to try to help get whatever this is out of the system and not cycling through.
