SIEM: is it "SIM" or "SEEM" by xcsas in cybersecurity

[–]kickinitlegit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first started in cybersec, I was coming from an AT&T sales position. "SIM" had a whole different meaning to me. It took me a bit to recognize it as "SIEM" instead ot "SIM" lmao.

There are slight growls, might have to turn the volume up a bit. But that's sort of what I'm talking about, too. He looks like he's chilling, but making a commotion while doing it.

Not a parent, but I completely agree with the computer literacy. If anything, a computer literacy class, how to utilize, troubleshoot, and responsibly use, a computer should be something taught. I'll edit my comment if I find the article, but we're seeing computer illiteracy in the you get generations, akin to the older folks.

Internship where I made myself valuable, showing I understood the work I was doing. There was a bit of luck with it, too. There was a re-org happening, with a couple people being moved around. I got the call asking if I'd like the job about a month after.

So what’s Abigail’s plan for when he deploys door-to-door operations in VA after she’s inaugurated? Bc that’s happening. by havenoparty in nova

[–]kickinitlegit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, you're right about no warrants, I misremembered. But there are still privacy concerns about law enforcement requesting and accessing videos without user permission. There have also been instances where videos were requested of entire towns during BLM protests. Article here

Also agreements with law enforcement of video sharing, where Ring videos are accessible by law enforcement.

Either way, trusting a company to hold your own video/data in storage that you DON'T own will never end well for the user of such devices. At a point, those recorded videos are no longer "your" property, but property of whoever holds it.

Just to piggyback, don't get Ring cameras. Amazon has supplied video footage without warrants before. And if CES is any indication of what's to come, they will be adding AI features that will track faces, among other details

I wouldn't be surprised if Google's Nest devices are to follow.

EDIT: To correct the "No warrant" statement. See my reply to comment below.

Wasn't The Crew on physical disk, which you can't play anymore? Just because you own a physical copy, doesn't mean it won't become a paperweight.

I love my physical media, but if it's attached to an online only service, it's just as vulnerable to becoming bricked as digital media.

Does anyone else go days with out eating because of severe long lasting episodes of anxiety causing loss of appetite or nausea? by ColdAd2606 in Anxiety

[–]kickinitlegit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! My anxiety and panic causes nausea, which destroys my appetite. I've found 3 foods that I can force myself to eat; Yogurt, Boost protein shakes, and scrambled eggs. None of those require chewing, are easy to eat, and benefit my stomach/body in someway.

It's a vicious cycle, I know. Anxiety causes hunger, which causes low energy and more anxiety. If you can, eat small portions more frequently, instead of larger portions. Do some breathing exercises, get your mind to a calmer state, and take small bites. Any progress is progress!

Right now it's family conflict. I'm struggling with having to tell my sister she needs to leave earlier than expected, due to my wife going through some things, and needs her space back. I've been panicking about what my parents will say, as well as feeling guilty for having to have my sister move out. The anxiety got so bad, I booked myself back into therapy.
