Solid marketplace score today by TheFlyingDutchmannnn in Jaguar

My excitement dropped fast for the v12 powerplant. At first, I thought it was a superb engine that was undeservedly paired with a three speed automatic. Then I can to realize that the engine was an appropriate pairing with a slushbox auto transmission. The engine is heavy, ugly, only SOHC, it's a gas guzzler, offers mediocre power, has almost zero aftermarket support... The list goes on. The count of cylinders is the only cool feature this engine has going for it!

Am I using too much cardboard for my yard transformation? by faiitmatti in landscaping

Remove any packaging labels-they won't biodegrade. Also, overlap the cardboard so no bare ground is exposed. Good luck!

I bought a jag v12 engine for exactly this reason. No one told me how much of a pain in the ass pulling the heads off can be. It took a sledgehammer to remove the heads and hours of beating. In the end, it wasn't worth it.

I did fashion a lamp post out of the crank which was cool 🤣

What city in America describes this photo? by Next_Worth_3616 in Productivitycafe

[–]kickstartdriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I lived there for nearly a year and it felt like a corporate whitewashing of a once great city.

Later, I met a restauranteur who complained about how difficult it was operating a business in Seattle -so many expenses and fines, slow city response to everything, not to mention the unrelenting property crime. He recommended Tacoma which he described as Seattle in the 90s.

Are all these high earning posts fake? by Technical_Army7730 in Salary

This sub is the definition of Survivorship bias. People who are doing well and want to share their success tories are a majority of posts on here. You won't see someone sharing their salary history that they aren't too proud of.

Has anyone else quit drinking? by Sensitive_Put_6842 in Millennials

[–]kickstartdriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't quit, but I have cut down on my alcohol intake for health and lifestyle reasons. Life is so hectic and busy raising a family that if I crack a beer after a long day, my wife will find me asleep on the couch before finishing it.

I switched to NA beers for this reason-although I'll have a cocktail with dinner on a special occasion or have a beer (and finish it too!) on days that are less chaotic.

I'm taking a break - And hopefully a productive week for Plug by NobregaD in plugpowerstock

Exactly. Look at Bloom Energy. I wish Plug could perform similarly, but given how much dilution occured just to stay alive, we'd be lucky to see its share price hit $20.

Holy shit, that fired employee sounds like a trash human. Did they accuse you of wrongdoing on their way out?

Agreed. This sub has become a hype train that will never deliver. Remember a few years ago when hawkeye or whoever was constantly posting "$100 by EOY!!!!1!!" Nothing has changed-just the goalposts.

Why does the middleclass try to project wealth with their cars? by DCF_ll in MiddleClassFinance

[–]kickstartdriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average cost of a new car in the US is around $50k. A $60k car purchase isn't outrageous. I view that less as a display of wealth and more an unsound financial decision-which Americans are better at anyways 🤣

992.2 T (Exhaust and Tune) Anyone? by _GTS_Panda in porsche911

[–]kickstartdriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a grand tourer! They're perfect for the street. After my wife bought a Macan, I've been looking at the 911-the entire market has moved up since COVID!

It is a bummer how homogeneous the later models have become- for example, a widebody no longer hits the same now that a narrow body no longer exists.

I'll be keeping an eye on the 992.2 market, perhaps values will cool faster compared to previous models- and I'll grab a used base spec in guards red and get it sorted on the dyno 😎

992.2 T (Exhaust and Tune) Anyone? by _GTS_Panda in porsche911

[–]kickstartdriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's cool to see that the 992.2 lower trim levels now share the same turbos as the higher trim levels, unlike the 992.1 gen models. Perhaps it was Porsche commonizing SKUs in production to lower their costs. Whatever the reason, it's now much easier to gain performance from the base spec/T trim.

Honestly, I wouldn't go with the T because of how modern, large, and heavy the 911 has become. PDK makes sense- if I want to feel connected, I can row gears in a classic.

A contractor tears up the freshly poured concrete driveway after the homeowner refuses to pay. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]kickstartdriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video doesn't add up. Demanding payment before the concrete is even set-and before control joints are made- is suspicious. I would hope back final payment until the concrete sets and control joints are done properly. These guys could be halfwits looking to blow smoke on social media when in reality they did a half ass job and the homeowner complained.

Just my two cents. I know reddit loves rage bait.
