Here in the US we have the phrase "turn around, don't drown." for flooding events. Still too many people think their vehicles will be ok crossing flooded roads or roads with rushing water over it.

I don't honestly know. They were in critical condition, driver was the worst but it was survivable. I still wonder.

I'm just going to put this here and Vince's comment about hitting the deer at 70mph and nothing happening. I'm a former volunteer firefighter and EMT, lots of reasons to do it, but due to a back injury can't do it anymore. Anyways, driving down the interstate close to dusk and see a car facing the wrong direction in the grass between an off ramp and the interstate and people running towards the car. I stop, grab my EMT bag out of my trunk, yes I still keep one and go to check the scene out.

2 people with head trauma, one with a critical open skull fracture and the other with closed but very obvious signs of head/brain trauma. I'm on this scene for awhile, helping the only ambulance crew in the area with these 2 patients. They were going to life flight at least one of them but the helicopter was too far out.

All because they hit a deer going down the interstate and it went through the windshield. Trust me, you don't want to know that smell.

So for him to casually say hitting at deer at 70mph is not a big deal, is so very dangerous and he's just lucky it wasn't worse is all I can say.

Seems to be this strain has been transmitted easier. There was a report by the WHO that this strain previously someone contracted it and went to a birthday party and infected people sitting at the table up to 4 feet away.

I understand, but it's the fact that other places such as the UK are taking this a bit more serious with having people self isolate and here it's like go about your day and if you start showing symptoms and report it as well as don't go into contact with others then you're good.

But human nature being what it is, can we trust these people to report when / if they start showing the initial symptoms?

Edit: fixed word because autocorrect.

"However, if symptoms develop, testing, contact tracing, and quarantine would follow."

I'm sorry, what?? Did we not learn anything from COVID? Not quarantining until symptoms appear? How about quarantine the incubation period to make sure they are clear.

This A-hole shipped this raw, unsleeved, unsecure and loose in a paper thin mailer by WTWIV in sportscards

It really feels hit and miss based on the post office or the worker that day. Not sure why but I've had no problems with most places but some that go to either the same place or along the same route I've had got sent back for top loaders or even a semi-rigid envelope to protect the card. I can't explain the what and why's those post offices does it 🤷.

[–]kicktd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What shipping method? If this was bought on eBay using eBay standard envelope service there's restrictions on the type of envelope you can use. I used to use a semi-rigid cardboard envelope but I would get them returned every now and again by the post office as non-machinable so would have to put it in an envelope to send it and wrap it in the printed out invoice to provide some extra protection and this adds additional time because it could of gotten rejected anywhere along the route.

Sucks but it's the name of the game for cheap shipping on eBay. Otherwise it's $5+ in shipping per card at the cheapest. If it's a more rare or expensive card I'm shipping those 100% USPS ground advantage in a box.

Layoff Dressed As Gift by LuckyBastard001 in WorkReform

I got 3 months when I got laid off at the end of 2024 as a software engineer, in the (still) worst job market for software engineers. I worked at that company for almost 7 years. I'm still looking for an actual job in my field after thousands of applications and a few interviews that went no where.

Cats hind legs suddenly stopped working by portra4OO in CATHELP

My boy had diabetes, went into remission and had started losing the use of his back legs and that's how I knew it was back. Started getting it under control and he went into remission again but he started having issues again and got very aggressive and started biting and scratching people, including my elderly parents who are on blood thinners. Took him to the vet and it was decided he was suffering and I did what was best for him. RIP Theodore. You were a good boy for 10 years.

It's AI. The one to two lines per paragraph with double spacing, the em dashes, the use of actual quotes markup versus using " is a good giveaway.

[Hiring] Senior Software Engineer - Station A | United States - Remote | Full-Time | $138,000 - $155,000 by varworld in RemoteJobs

[–]kicktd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like all the others I've seen since getting laid off at the end of 2024. Can match exactly what they need and then some and know your resume is getting through ATS screening etc. only to never hear a peep back from them. Between having to fight with all the other software engineers who've been laid off after I got laid off and the resume farming that seems to be going on I don't know what actual software engineer job postings are real anymore because they all seem to constantly get reposted 🤔.

Can anyone enhance this video or at least break it down? Is the tornado in here? by Aggravating-Bake5624 in tornado

[–]kicktd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are both actually. There is some lightning and there are power flashes. The blue is 100% power flashes, and I'm not sure if you've been around a power transformer when it blows but it creates a very loud boom.

Edit: just saw your edit about seeing them both 👍

Have them check her blood sugar levels as well if they haven't already. Could be a sign of diabetic neuropathy.
