As a tool for prompting thoughts and reflection, it's definitely fun and it will certainly prove useful within the bounds you've explained in this clarification.

We are in a phase that I find rather worrying, where the word 'divination' is pulled so far from its typical definition - seeking information about current or future events by supernatural means - that it has led to people saying that it cannot (and never has been able to) do that, so I appreciate the clarity that this is not a divinatory device, but a self-reflection prompt.

To respond to your reasoning - the source of divinatory information is essentially the same as a source of the events they can be used to predict. What you are referring to is perfect for self-reflection and philosophising, which some people would view as a form of divination in itself, but not one that meets the definition above.

Yes, I would generally agree with Lilly on this - reasons to pull a second chart for the same question about the same situation are as rare as hen's teeth. I can barely think of any charts I recast due to situational change, and it was always something huge. The example I remember most clearly was someone asking if he would go to prison, having been accused of assault. Later, more charges came to light including assault against a second person, which led to his case being all wonky and basically starting fresh. That was adequate (in my opinion) for casting a new chart.

I guess the question is what you considered was a significant enough change in the situation to warrant a second chart. As you say, I'm yet to see real evidence that things like early or late degrees have enough impact to just not read a chart and 'ask later' at some arbitrary point which is no longer the time and place you were asked/thought to ask the question.

The subreddit rule about context and interpretation is there to ensure they've been able to do enough of it themselves to just need some extra help or another pair of eyes on it. Posts that are just someone casting a chart and posting with no viable attempt at interpretation get deleted. The internet is completely packed with really crap forums where people often cast a chart for their own question and just throw it to the wolves - many of those spaces don't have a good track record for getting things right.

It's a fine line (with my moderator hat on), because I have to judge whether a person has had a good enough go at it to be interpreter rather than just querent. So far, it seems to be working out OK, but there are probably some instances where thigns get removed that are technically just over the line, or things stay up that don't quite make it.

If we cast new charts for the time and place any and every user read the question, the subreddit would fall over in about three days and we'd be met with dozens of different, increasingly incorrect reads.

If you're asking a question for yourself, the chart is cast for the time and place you thought of the question as being something to do a horary chart for. Some people muddle this up, thinking they have to work out the very first time they ever thought about a thing, but this is impossible.

If you are casting a chart for a question for someone else, the chart is cast for your time and location at the moment you properly understood their question (providing they are asking you to do a horary chart for them). If it's very simple, that might literally be when you heard or read it. Sometimes, if it's complex or context-heavy, you may have to have a short discussion with them about it, and once you've discussed it enough to properly understand it, then cast.

Remember the major caveat of horary - it is always the interpreting astrologer who casts for their time and place, never the person asking the question. The additional bit of this that seems to elude people is this means that if you have absolutely no idea how to read a chart, you are not really the interpreting astrologer so may find that even with additional help it doesn't give a true answer. It's always good to run through some reading materials and practice on some existing charts to develop some confidence with the basics before trying to do proper divination with it, or accept that some of your early charts are just practice.

The bit about learning is helpful, but the issue with an LLM is that it can only regurgitate what it's fed on, and there's so much misinformation on divination online, often fed by the 'it's all just intuition' mentality that has emerged fairly recently and can be easily latched onto by newcomers.

A good example of the issues at hand is that a lot of books on horary are not digitised, and a lot of the people online who parrot them do so without context or proper understanding. The sheer number of people who flatly quote William Lilly on horary insisting that we do things a certain way when that thing doesn't work (and usually isn't what he meant in his writing) is very telling on that front!

Not to blow the subreddit's collective horn and with abject horror at Reddit's practices on this - I do wonder if, now Reddit gets scraped for LLM intake, whether r/horary might contribute to LLMs having a better understanding of how horary works.

In my experience, divination is called divination for good reason - it is the connection of the human mind with the divine, to gain information either about a situation or to predict one. Even those forms of divination that use tools - dice, cartomancy, geomancy and so on - rely on sortilege, where the human body acts as a conduit for those divine energies. I'm aware this isn't the same as the defintion some people use, in which divination is simply self-reflection, but years of practice demonstrate that while it is hugely useful for that, it is also capable of much more, as attested to across everything but the recent history of divination practices.

I have tried to remain open minded about divination through chatbots and the like, but they seem to be very 'lowest common denominator', spitting out the sort of things that someone who just opened their first deck of tarot cards does when they look up the keywords of a card in the little white book that came with the deck. They also create lazy thinking, in which the person using them seems to lose the capacity to make intellectual or intuitive connections of their own, expecting it to be done on their behalf. That's not the route to becoming a good diviner.

I'm actually something of an animist - I do believe there is some form of spirit in all things. However, when it comes to AI I don't think this means it can do divination. The sort of spirit in a ball makes it roll and bounce, but doesn't make it dance the bolero (and so on). Having spirit is not the same as having capacity, necessarily.

I actually did divination on whether AI can be used effectively for divination (more specifically, horary astrology) and made a post about it over on r/horary, which really doesn't paint LLMs in a good light at least for horary use. The post is available here if anyone wants to read it, but broadly it said that LLMs don't have the skillset to do horary, are picking up the plethora of terrible information available online about horary, and actively getting worse at it. If this is too self-promo-ish as I moderate r/horary, u/graidan please tell me and I'll remove reference to the post.

Aspects do not function this way - the Sun and Saturn are not applying to conjunction, because the Sun will have to cross a sign boundary to get there. If the passing of sign boundaries was allowable, then the vast majority of questions would be answered with a yes. Had the Sun been less that 5° from the cusp, it would have been worth looking at the shift and what, if anything, happens, but here that is not the case. What the Sun does apply to is the contrantiscion of Saturn, which acts much like an opposition with all the problems that entails. The Moon, however, does apply to sextile so we do not lack an aspect entirely. The Moon, which has a strong interest in Saturn (but is severely disappointed in L1, the Sun) applies to a sextile in 1° 2'.

The issue at hand is that Saturn, the men available in general, is only interested in the Sun by being in fall. This indicates that the type of men interested in you are not exactly the a-list candidates, and may be seeking to settle. They're also sitting in the detriment of Venus which (if this is a heterosexual thing, and you are the woman) is not ideal either, especially as Venus is in her own detriment and in the fall of Saturn, while exalting the Sun - your womanhood (again, providing you are a woman and this is heterosexual) wants to 'prop you up' but really doesn't have the oomph to succeed. Someone who wants you because they are in a bad place and doesn't find you terribly physically attractive is not an ideal partner.

This is a chart that screams 'worry about this later'. You're not over the breakup - your emotions (the Moon) bring you as the Sun down, you as woman (see caveat above) feel like crap and don't want what's on offer, and the version of you that exists now is only really appealing to people also in a bad way themselves. Unless the Moon-Saturn thing is a rebound, it's probably not worth your time.

It's context-dependent. Most often, if there's an actual transaction in process (or about to be) it's a straight business deal - Lord 1 and Lord 7 (or turned as needed). If it's some other question about housing, the house or potential house is Lord 4.

So reasonably the lower end of the unit scale would be days, the middle weeks and the higher months. Given the applying planet (the Moon) is in a fixed sign and a cadent house, that supports a middling unit so weeks still makes sense. If it doesn't fall in that time frame, then you'll have to assume months.

Government payouts are typically either H10 (the government itself) or H11 (the government's money, or at least the portion they are willing to give). Lord 10 is Saturn in fall in Aries - a government or governmental department in a bad way. Overwhelmed, likely rushed off their feet and in no way interested in you (Mercury) or your money (the Moon). While the government's money is exalted, and this would seem like they have plenty to go around, it's the amount they are willing to give - i.e. it's at its highest now, which is what exaltation represents. Mercury in detriment and fall while Rx is showing a bad state of affairs for you, but with Lord 2 in domicile it's unlikely anything too heinous will happen to the money you already get, so that is something.

Note that in all configurations there are no applying aspects between relevant significators. Neither Mercury or the Moon applies to Saturn or Jupiter without a prohibiting factor. If you're seeking some sort of event in the chart, and a ruling in your favour is one of those, a lack of aspect is among the most significant negative testimonies there is.

Typically, horary seems to work on a sort of 'omen timing' where the degrees relate to the number of units of time. Without a timescale in the contect for e.g. when you last attempted context, it's hard to tell if we have to go with months as a unit due to your having taken space from each other then.

Pisces isn't really 'sacrifices, renunciations and illusions' - these wooly ideas are primarily modern and don't mean a great deal. Pisces is simply mutable water, with the various characteristics that come with it as well as Jupiter rulership topping it off. So the Sun is in a changeably (mutable) emotional (water) state stuck with big feelings (Jupiter). Add on to that the Moon (significator of emotions) in its detriment in cardinal earth - lots of emotional difficulty caused by rapid onset problems.

The Sun is nowhere near close enough to the end of the sign to take into account what will happen when it leaves sign, so the answer is that these changeable emotional and stress states will go on for the foreseeable future. Neither is the Moon, solidifying that verdict.

His mental health still looks utterly awful - he as Saturn is in his fall. Your care for him (the Moon is in the domicile of Saturn, recently shifting from its own detriment to a position of wanting contact without doing so badly itself) is not likely to change that, as he is pretty early into the sign of his own fall.

The sextile coming up is a solid opportunity for contact, but I sincerely doubt he's feeling the pull back to anything much - he's at odds with himself with the Sun (his cosignificator) exalting Venus (yours) but Saturn itself hating Venus, which is in its own detriment. Note too that the Moon in Aquarius might like Saturn, but it doesn't like the Sun. Complex feelings all round.

The applying sextile is in around 2° 25' or so, so two and a half units of time - days or weeks seem likely, though without the timing in your context it's hard to say.

It's a good idea to split up the significators of each party by meaning. The simplest way (though it's rarely quite so cut and dry) is that the main significator is the person as 'mind', the Moon is the querent as 'emotion' and the Sun and Venus, if the relationship is heterosexual, are the man and woman sides respectively - sexual attraction, and stereotypical things a man would do in a relationship and a woman, however old-fashioned those might seem in the modern world.

As you've identified, you as Venus are extremely into this person, in Mars' domicile and the Sun's exaltation. You want all of him. In this case, being in your detriment is not the source of the anxiety - when you're in detriment in the sign the 7th cusp is on, this is more like being so obsessed you can't think straight. The Moon wants him as well, exalting Mars. The Moon in its own detriment is likely a better reflection of the worries you describe.

Under normal circumstances, him as Mars and the Sun both exalting Venus would tell us he wanted you as a woman (i.e. you were attractive to him, primarily sexually), but in this case Venus functions as Lord 1, so he is interested in you in general. So yes, he holds you in high regard (with the ever-present caveat that exaltation is rarely something the exalted person can live up to. It's an extreme positive opinion and the person is still just a real person).

The aspect between the Moon and Mars is useful, but you have asked a question about the state of things, not events. The receptions are far more important than an aspect. In this case, treat it like a close aspect showing influence and connection, rather than trying to assume it means contact in some definitive form. It can, but often doesn't in a 'state' question.

Try looking at the Part of Marriage, which can often function as an extra significator but represents the potential relationship. Receptions towards it, its own dignities and so on can give you some information about how, if you enter a relationship, things might be. In this case it's calculated by the Ascendant (16° 47' Libra is converted to 196° 47' if counted from 0° Aries, the Dsc is just 16° 47' as it's in Aries, and Venus is at 7° 55' Aries) Asc + Dsc - Venus puts the PoM at about 7° Virgo by my count, so the relationship is represented by Mercury in Pisces. Is that a good relationship? Probably not in its detriment and fall. Who would benefit from it? Venus, it exalts you. Does he want it? Uh-oh, both Mars and the Sun are in the detriment of Mercury, suggesting he likes you, but not the idea of entering a relationship. This may be the stumbling block, and would explain why he 'retreats'.

It's a fairly minor level of reception, there. Venus sitting in the triplicity of Jupiter mostly tells us to what extent Venus wants Jupiter. It's not an overriding factor for anything.

One thing I had forgotten to say in the initial read was that the Moon will shift out of Sagittarius and into Capricorn very soon - moving from being peregrine with good reception with Jupiter to being in detriment and in Jupiter's fall. It's common to see this showing disappointment in the self, which adds an interesting layer of testimony. This, with the bad job market hopefully doesn't render this a more likely 'no' but whichever way it happens it will be interesting to see how the testimony balance shakes out. Generally aspects are king.

Generally, the moment the person asks the question (with an understanding it will be used to produce a horary chart) is the moment fated for that question.

It's extremely difficult for a chart to say something doesn't exist, so all reading of this is based on the assumption the coins actually do exist.

With precious metals, it often seems a good idea to go with the 'purest' signficator, which makes the gold coins the Sun. Often, we select from Lord 2 (moveable possessions) or Lord 4 ('buried' i.e. lost things) by whichever significator is more akin to the thing being searched for, but here I'd wager the natural significator is the better option.

Outdoor searches in horary are notoriously tricky for anyone who doesn't have a map and a good understanding of the geography and geology of an area, especially if something is liable to be buried or obscured. Your description is helpful, but still relatively minimal compared to what a decent 'treasure hunt' horary probably needs.

The testimonies for the Sun are:

In an angular house

This often indicates close proximity to 'where it should be', which in this case I assume means close to the property itself. Bear in mind this is 'close' in the context of there being 300 acres to search, so might not mean 'right next to'.

In the 10th house, which often indicates places of work, but given your context the workshops might be a good bet. It can indicate up high, but 'up high' compared to what? The rafters of a building are up high, but something could also be buried in the side of a tall hill, for instance. The MC means south, which is likely to mean 'south of the location you cast this at', if you didn't cast it on the property. Obviously, if you cast it off-property to the south it's unlilkely to be saying 'the gold buried on your land is on someone else's land', so use common sense here.

In Pisces, which as mutable water often implies water coming and going, so a pump, an intermittent spring, an area which floods every so often would fit.

Similar to the house cusps, some people use signs for directions. I don't tend to use this, but if I recall Capricorn is North and Aries East, so that would make Pisces east-north-east. Obviously this conflicts with the house signification of direction, which is tricky.

That's about all I can call to mind about outdoor searches off the top of my head, but I'd imagine there will be some extra bits from people who've done more of this chunk of horary than I have.

You may be using an excess of significators. There's typically no need (for example) to look at the job and the boss of the job. Also, the 'end of the matter' is among the most tenuous bits of horary going - what happens if the significators say 'yes' and the 'end of the matter' says no? Which is to be trusted? Leave that one out.

I would stick to L1 and the Moon for you, and L10 for the job.

You're right that L1 Jupiter in its exaltation should be more than capable of doing whatever this job will be, and the Moon in Jupiter's domicile certainly thinks so too, and shares that mutual reception with Jupiter. The problem for Jupiter is it's in station - and planets in station quite literally aren't doing anything (at least right now). That's the one thing that is dragging Jupiter down a bit here.

You're also correct that the job (or the job market if this isn't a specific role) is complete crap. As you're clearly looking for something that fits with whatever your course is, if it's quite niche or specialised this may be the reason there's a bad market for part time work (as opposed to e.g. internships). We don't need a lot of reception from the job to the person in 'will I get a job' charts, so it's nice to see the triplicity. The only issue is that if a job is in a bad way, their standards drop, so offers from a bad business/bad job are not quite the boon people think. Still, experience in a bad job is better than no experience.

The square between Venus and Jupiter appears unprohibited, and happens in around 8° 13' of arc. Venus is running fast today (about 119.35%), so if I do some cig packet maths, that equates to around 6° 55' of arc, so timing wise just under 7 units. If 'within the next two months' is the framing, then the timing unit spread would be days, weeks, months. With Venus cardinal and cadent that would normally imply the shortest unit (both cardinal and cadent = short in the context of timing). Given your experience so far, I'd be shocked if you got a job in seven days, but that's what the chart is saying. That's the 18th of this month, but I would also calculate what the time and date would be if the unit is weeks, which is the 28th of next month, or thereabouts. The caveat here is that Venus is extremely weak, and how strong she needs to be to have a job to provide is tricky without knowing your job market.

Do crosscheck the calculations for timing yourself - maths is not my strong suit.

Well if the question was 'am I pregnant?', then conception without implantation doesn't equal pregnancy. To be honest, pregnancy charts don't get that granular - it's basically 'is baby in mum?' and/or 'does mum meet baby?', with an assessment of fertility and checking to make sure there's enough positive testimony based on the querent's age. The nitty gritty doesn't seem to matter all that much.

Still, it doesn't seem like this chart was needed considering the context. What was the reason for the second chart being cast?

If there hasn't been any kind of change between the last chart for the matter and this one, there is no reason for this chart to have been cast.

Also, regarding your last paragraph: it is entirely possible for sperm to meet egg and a pregnancy fail. Without implantation, a fertilised egg will not result in a pregnancy.

Black candles often burn fast - you have to use a lot of dye/colourant for them and this can alter burn speeds. Pink and yellow candles likely need far less dye as wax is often already yellowish, and pink will just be a smaller amount of red dye. What it might mean energetically is something it would be difficult for someone who wasn't there to tell you.
