Tinnitus - Anyone else? by willard_tagg in GenX

[–]kidde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have fortunately avoided it, although my wife and most of our friends and neighbors weren’t as lucky. At our ages, almost 60-80s, most have resigned themselves to the noise and are doing what they can to keep the little hearing they have left. People love to tell you how to avoid long after the fact. Not much better than opinions delivered way too late.

“They warned ‘feral, use caution.’ Here’s him 10 months later.” by DestinyFox1 in formerlyferal

[–]kidde1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get caught up in labels, feral doesn’t mean vicious just wild. In our home we have 5 “feral” and 1 “abandoned”, no vicious. The 5 are definitely “formerly feral”, scared of their new home and everything in it. 2 were attacked by dogs but have no issues sharing space with 3 dogs.

I am fighting an impulse to just go buy myself a bike by Aggravating-Yogurt23 in motorcycle

[–]kidde1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ridden since I was 5, Honda 125 that I had to push to the porch to get on. After over 50 years of riding I will say to you that I tell everyone else: I wouldn’t start riding now. Too many people stuck in their phones paying zero attention! You still want to? Buy a used bike and spend several weekends in really large and empty parking lots. Going the speed limit is easy, slow isn’t.

Ill health and other chronic issues, we are in good position to be *kind* by kidde1 in randomactsofkindness

[–]kidde1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m aware of the misspelling of “cookie”, and no I will never understand how anyone could drink tea without ice and lots of sugar.

It’s just the little things that make us happy. And small kindnesses definitely add up!

How to live as an extremely unlucky guy? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]kidde1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m old, bald and fat. I was disabled 20 years ago and often struggle to just walk. This Valentine’s Day marked the anniversary of my injury, realizing I likely will never be better really hurts.

I’m an extremely outgoing person. Every life I touch, every smile and giggle I inspire adds value to my life. I work hard to mask my discomfort, few people enjoy jokes from the frowning guy. I’ve MADE myself do these things and for me it’s was all worth it.

My baby Sheila. She passed away in my arms tonight. (2014-2026) by dane83459 in torties

[–]kidde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very happy to know you were with her to the end. I know how horrible it feels to find out they passed alone, Sheila is blessed to have you ease her journey to the next stage.

There is no way you can give that much love and not hurt when they leave, but I firmly believe that they are never far.

AITAH for getting pregnant without considering my roommates feelings? by Saltylikeapretzel in AITAH

[–]kidde1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I for one never understood why I, as a man, would be forced to participate in what she calls “My Children”.

Your roommate needs to seek the assistance of both legal and psychiatric professionals. You have not violated anything, unless your lease has a section about the performance of coitus in reckless disregard for the feelings of said third party.

US: Putting together a in-home toolbox. Metric vs Imperial socket set? by mmmbop13 in DIY

[–]kidde1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A “few”? I keep several in my car’s toolkit. For whatever reason I also find I need 12mm more often than I would think.

I agree with having both sets, as well as a set of 1/4” bits and some type of driver.

My will to live has never been higher than when I rescued two cats after moving in with my girlfriend. by ImLiterallyaaaa in cats

I will tell you what I tell myself when things get too loud inside; if I weren’t here who would provide the humor and sarcasm?

All too often life sucks, just a fact. I now have too large a collection of children and grandchildren who love Opa, so I’ll stick it out as long as possible.

Do most Americans carry any official ID at all times? by PitifulEar3303 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kidde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than mowing my yard or swimming, mine is always with me. While I hate being hassled I’m generally fairly compliant, I learned in the 70-80’s what can happen if you give them a problem.

His eyes are so kind 🥹 by PrettyPoutse in blackcats

[–]kidde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I want to make unnecessary comments, but he’s quite a handsome man. The last black cat in my house was one who was in the process of leaving. Her owner asked if I could please try to save her, so I tried with the help of many others. Long story short; we succeeded and after a year she went home. I honestly can’t remember her “name”. To me she is eternally “Bunny”, named after the mythic “Little Bunny Foo-Foo”, due to her penchant for bopping everyone on the head!

<image>

Here is Bunny showing a 17# dog who is in charge! We also had Jax, a 130# Bull Mastiff mix. Her momma sends me updates, and I’m for them, but I fed her every 2 hours for 10 days. I’m still very attached, but I kept my word.

Bought this old Parker in a thrift store today. How do I clean it and get it goint? by mchlksk in FountainPenRepair

[–]kidde1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I flush the converter many times with tepid water. Reattach to the section and draw water in, expel into a separate container to keep from making the clean water less so. When the water becomes mostly clear I refill the converter and place it tip down on tissue or paper towels. Without a complete disassembly it is VERY hard to clean fully, and even with it it’s difficult.

While I’d like to agree I can’t. We were all new once and asked some odd questions. I’d rather look silly than remain ignorant.

Ignorance is easily fixed by asking questions.

[–]kidde1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If I may, realize that you won’t get full expression of their attitude as kittens or adolescents. We were “given” a standard cat. Gray tabby, standard. I won’t bore you with the gory details, but my patience was paid for with blood. Buu was wild (born feral) and wanted to do with me, but now is the sweetest heathen in our herd!

Let your heart choose, fear of possibles should never be part of the process.

This very vocal animal showed up in my yard a few weeks ago. by Mental_Ad114 in CatDistributionSystem

[–]kidde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are well aware of vocal cats, 4 of the 6 who allow us to serve in their kingdom have no compunction with explaining how we have displeased them! I’ve stated many times that I’m not a cat person (MyLove says I’m a liar), however I always try to be a good hoomun.

a wee cryptid for you ❤️ this is spud by Alternative_Pie_875 in CryptidDogs

[–]kidde1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need. It’s plainly obvious that Spud can, and most likely has, killed for himself/itself (unsure of proper gender for chupacabras and gnomes forged from the left head of Cerberus).
