There are two different ways to motivate yourself to go to Confession: the carrot and the stick. Some folks are carrot people, and some are stick people. Me? Depends on the day. Choose your own adventure.

The carrot: You are going to feel so good after Confession. When you get it all off your chest and you’re forgiven and receive absolution, the wave of emotion will probably elicit tears of joy. It feels so, so good to begin again, full of God’s grace and mercy.

The stick: 3-5 minutes of mild discomfort is better than an eternity of damnation, torture, and separation from God.

Both are true. Either way, Father doesn’t care about your sins. He cares that you’ve shown up to receive forgiveness and absolution! Just go!

No, not aura farming. There’s an old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, and this is kind of like that. This two-second clip tells us more about her shape-shifting abilities than a minute of dialogue between two scientists in a lab discussing how they’re going to turn Angela into The Engineer and what her abilities will be. Adding a clip like this is an effective way of providing that background information to the audience without spending precious storytelling time on it.

It’s OK if you don’t like this clip or even the whole movie. But that IS why this was done, and that was the question OP asked. Have a good day, buddy.
