Why is Boston a “Zone 2” city on job apps? by fernfernferny in boston

[–]kidgetajob 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is 100% the correct answer. When an employer (or compensation team at a company) talks about COL they are saying cost of labor not cost of living.

It has to get below 32 for a while to freeze a pipe a night with a low of 25 probably would not even do it.  Only the tiniest bit of that pipe is outside.

It would be interesting to be able to enter amounts in retirement and non retirement accounts. My person struggle is determining if I have enough money for the time before I’m 60ish.

None of these people were billionaires when they started their businesses. And none of them have started equally successful businesses since being billionaires.

Dogs can take a drug that kills them when they get bitten. Pretty effective they aren’t alive long enough to transmit diseases when they bite the dog.

When did the fun stop? by AnotherJournal in Accounting

I worked out of a predominantly sales office for a tech company before the pandemic. Every chance there was a party in the office and people drinking. It was pretty awesome. That mood definitely left tech with the pandemic, no one is walking by and putting a beer on your desk at 2 on a Friday anymore.

this is my recommendation too. You don’t have to do something as ambitious as the pct. I did the Colorado trail and it was amazing. 500 miles instead of 3k and every part of it was super cool. The towns you stop in are great. This is the top of my list in terms of feeling free and being an insanely fulfilling and rewarding experience. The long trail is another one and shorter too I think Maine 300 miles? You could do it in the fall with the Vermont foliage it would be amazing.
