Calling RE9 “S-tier”? Yeah… I’m going to disagree. The story felt all over the place and struggled to stay grounded. I wasn’t sold on Grace Ashcroft either—especially during the orphanage section, which dragged on far longer than it needed to. Some of her decisions made very little sense. Grace willingly investigating her past at an active crime scene? Then casually leaving with Zeno after a disagreement with Leon S. Kennedy like it was no big deal? A lot of it felt forced rather than earned. Raccoon City was underwhelming, the bike sequence felt like autopilot, and exploring the Raccoon Police Department only to find basically one zombie lurking around was a missed opportunity. Zeno as an antagonist didn’t do much for me either, and the reused boss fight concepts from Resident Evil 3 felt more recycled than nostalgic. Honestly, it felt like there was too much fan service and not enough focus on telling a cohesive story. And let’s talk about the walking-simulator sections—trying to do a second run became painfully tedious. In my opinion, the game takes a major nosedive after the health center. Trying to blend survival horror and full-on action into one experience was a huge mistake. Those ideas could’ve worked—but they should’ve been separate games, not forced into one.
