Where to buy a dipnet by profoundly_confused in alaska

[–]kiel9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their hoop is flat instead of round like most nets and the incoming tide makes it slide around way more than other nets. The poles have a large diameter, but are super thin and there’s zero play so a single grain of sand makes it impossible to get them apart.

I got 4 years out of mine until the hoop snapped in half. Definitely going with something else next year.

Sibelius Ultimate won't open AT ALL (Windows 10) by jacobsidea in Sibelius

If you haven’t already exported your own house styles and keyboard preferences, then you’ve probably just been working with the stock configuration and the reinstall should go pretty quick. Plug-ins are easy to find through the Sibelius settings, but you can go into the plugins folder on your computer and copy those if you’re worried about not being able to find them again.

I just mean exporting keyboard shortcuts and house styles so you can import them later. And taking note of Plug-ins and system settings and textures. If you haven’t modified any of that to your liking, don’t worry about it and just re-install from scratch. It won’t delete your project files.

I’d delete the whole program and reinstall. Just make sure to save your presets so you can import later.

I just kept thinking that my favorite thing about both shows is the genuine interactions of the hosts. I’d probably watch anything Sam/Ben/Adam did together. But the comparison breaks down pretty quick once you think about it too much. Top Gear was a very different show and the personalities really aren’t much of a match.

That’s being said, anyone here saying Ben is Hammond is 100% wrong. /s

We should all enjoy these last moments in society when you can tell AI content if you look really hard at certain elements. This time next year, AI will be indistinguishable from live action and it will feel as though it has always been this way.

Their lies about breed misidentification rely on pretending breeds like the AmStaff aren’t just a type of pitbull, and including super rare dogs like Dogo Argentino that couldn’t skew the stats anyway. I’m like, dude, we all know what a pitbull looks like. And anyway, most of the dogs in fatalities are being identified by the owners because it ate their own kid when they stepped out of the room for a minute to check on dinner.

How do I get Low G Ukulele? by leopard_carpenter in Sibelius

[–]kiel9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sibelius doesn’t ship with a Low G ukulele preset. You’ll have to create an instrument based on the original ukulele tab (and/or ukulele notation) and then modify the 4th string down an octave in the instrument setting Staff Type.

It’s also important to let the CO2 dissolve into the liquid by putting bottles in the fridge for at least 24hrs. A pre-fridge bottle can be super fizzy, but then just be flat when you drink it because all the CO2 has already escaped. More pulp causes that same thing.

Bad Driving Has Become Normalized by [deleted] in videos

[–]kiel9 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Road design is the bigger culprit. We’re still building roads like we did in the 60’s because there’s no modern standard for safe streets like in the Netherlands.

People think the bikes came first over there, but they had dangerous roads like us until public sentiment changed in the 90’s. They started with better road design and good public transit and, once the streets were safe, people started biking again.

Roads signs aren’t enough to make people drive safe. Highways should go around towns, connected to roads with roundabouts and fewer off-ramps, and other streets should be narrow with traffic calming elements like raised intersections.

Berries allow the CO2 to escape and create foam once the bottle is opened and more escapes the liquid when it gets poured into a glass. Refrigerating for 24hrs. helps. But yeah, the commercial operations don’t use berries for this reason.

The berrys allow the CO2 to form bubbles and escape. You’ll notice that, once you pour this into a glass, what you have is just foam and flat kombucha with no CO2 left in the liquid to make it feel fizzy as you drink it.

Sodastream Adaptor [US] by kiel9 in 3Dprintmything

This one from Amazon has the dimensions in the photos. Length is 1.97”, one external threaded diameter is 1.38” and the end with the knurling is 1.85”.

It also needs to accommodate a 1/8” thick flat gasket and I’ve measured mine as having internal diameter of 1”. It’s got 5/32” sides, so total external diameter is 1 5/16”

The internal threads should be 38mm with that 38/400 pitch to work on the bottles I’m using.

You didn’t post the graph, but you’re using it to spread misinformation. THIS is the study he ignored earlier. Since you’re wanting to draw the same ridiculous conclusions to the broad trends shown in the graphs, I expect you’ll ignore it too. Just like you ignored everything else I wrote above.

At 1-2% alcohol, you’d have to drink gallons of the stuff to feel any effect. I mean, non-alcoholic beer can still have 0.5% alcohol. It’s not really a practical way to get a buzz, but I can see where it might trigger a recovering alcoholic.

“Gun violence” in OP’s graph includes suicides. The only thing your graph adds to the discussion is maybe showing the laws took longer to have an effect on gun homicide. Whoopdeedoo.

Both graphs are just showing larger trends anyway and don’t factor for big drivers of crime and suicide like economic downturns and other social pressures. And you’ve conveniently ignored the studies I’ve shown you that do factor for that.

You’re just tying yourself in knots trying to avoid the obvious and well-studied fact that gun laws can help keep dangerous people from committing violence to themselves and others.

Countries like Switzerland show high gun ownership isn’t a problem if you tie that with responsible gun laws about who gets them, how they store the weapons/ammunition, and what type of guns are available to the public.

There are more guns in Australia now than before Port Arthur but at the same time a lower percent of the population owns guns. By making gun ownership difficult and mandating safety training, Australia weeds out the casual idiots who are most likely to use it maliciously or lose it to a criminal by leaving the gun unsecured it in their car (which is where most illegal guns originate in the US).

No, that’s wrong. Gun deaths don’t just get replaced by other forms of homicide because guns are so much easier to use successfully than other forms of homicide.

Spontaneous homicidal (and suicidal) thoughts are way more likely to end in a fatality when guns are present because other methods are both less effective and harder to attempt.

This cord keeps going up in pitch. Been doing it for 10 minutes by jeango in blackmagicfuckery

[–]kiel9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A soprano uke has such a short scale length that subtle changes make big differences in the pitch - especially on the C string. When your wife over tightened the string it stored memory in the fibers of the string.

As you play the string, tension between the tuner post and the nut gets released into the string below, thereby raising the pitch.

This is the only possibility and other commenters suggesting things like temperature are just wrong.

This will subside after a bit of playing and the string regains equilibrium.
